Smilegate announced that it will officially launch the Korean horror game ‘Golmokgil: Ghost’ (Developer: AIXLAB) on the 29th (Wednesday).
“Alleyway: Ghost” is a project launched by Smilegate with the goal of creating a global success story for K-horror games. Building on its experience in creating VR, AR, and XR content, AIX Lab is taking on its first PC packaged horror game with this title.
In the early stages of development, the company was recognized for its potential by being selected for the Korea Creative Content Agency’s ‘2025 Game Content Production Support Project’, and its capabilities were recognized with horror VR titles such as ‘Haunted House VR’ and ‘Forbidden Art VR’, leading to a global publishing contract with Smilegate.
“Alleyway: Ghost Trail” is a survival horror adventure game about Soyeon, a character who finds herself trapped in an endless alleyway while walking home late at night. Players must distinguish between the “Ghost Trail,” a supernatural phenomenon permeating the alleyway, and the “Heurebi,” a bizarre phenomenon that can occur in real life, and attempt to escape. Through exploration and judgment using a phone camera and bracelet, players can experience a Korean-style occult sensibility, where familiar places transform into terrifying spaces.
The game received a lot of attention through the demo build release and demonstration at the Busan Indie Connect Festival (BIC) 2025. Related gameplay videos have accumulated over 2 million views on YouTube and other platforms, and even in the private FGT (Focus Group Test), there were favorable reviews such as, “I thought it would be moderately scary, but it’s really scary,” and “It properly captures the horror of Korean alleyways.” Smilegate and AIX Lab actively reflected the feedback and significantly enhanced the game’s completeness through production, optimization, and bug response.
“Alleyway: Ghosts” will be officially released through Smilegate’s global gaming platform, Stove. To celebrate the launch, players can purchase the game at a discount of up to 15% until Tuesday, the 18th of next month. Various interactive campaigns are also available to enrich the game experience. Furthermore, the horror-focused Stove promotion page offers a variety of discount coupons and highlights of popular new horror titles and indie games.
