Busan City (Mayor Park Hyung-joon) announced that the largest game exhibition in Korea, ‘G-Star 2024 (hereinafter referred to as G-Star)’, will be held for four days from November 14th to 17th at BEXCO and other locations.
Hosted by the Korea Association of Game Industry (Chairman Kang Shin-chul) and organized by the G-Star Organizing Committee and the Busan IT Industry Promotion Agency, G-Star 2024 is an international game exhibition where global game fans and game industry professionals can gather in one place to experience new games and see the latest trends in the game industry at a glance.
‘G-Star 2024’, which is prepared on the largest scale ever, focused on not only new PC and console games from major game companies but also indie games under the slogan ‘Expand Your Horizon’.
The event is diversely composed of a game exhibition, business consultation, international game conference (G-CON), indie game preview (showcase), ‘G-Star Game Cosplay Awards (King of Kings Tournament)’, ‘G-Star Cup 2024’, etc.
This year, G-STAR will be held on the largest scale ever with Nexon as the main sponsor for the first time in 7 years, and the world’s largest game distribution platform, Steam, will be exhibiting for the first time at a domestic exhibition event, with 3,359 booths (2,435 booths in the BTC Hall, 924 booths in the BTB Hall) and 1,375 large domestic and international game companies from 44 countries participating.
‘Nexon’ has prepared the BTC 300 booth, the largest of all G-Stars, and ‘Netmarble’, ‘Krafton’, ‘Pearl Abyss’, ‘Lionheart Studios’, ‘Webzen’, and ‘Hive IM’ will participate in large numbers to present not only diversified game platforms but also PC, mobile, and console games with a variety of genres, thereby exciting game fans.
G-Star and ‘Steam’ will introduce various and unique indie games through ‘G-Star Indie Showcase 2.0: Galaxy Powered by Steam’. ‘Steam’ will add specialness to this G-Star by exhibiting games from 60 indie game developers in 300 booths. At the portable gaming PC ‘Steam Deck’ experience zone, you can enjoy games from various indie developers directly through ‘Steam Deck’.
In addition, there will be side events for the general public, such as the ‘International Game Conference (G-CON)’, ‘G-Star Game Cosplay Awards (including the King of Kings Tournament)’, and ‘G-Star Cup 2024’, providing a wealth of things to see and various opportunities for visitors to experience.
The ‘G-Star Game Cosplay Awards’, where game cosplay and an awards ceremony will take place, will be held on the G-Star Stage in Hall 4 of BEXCO’s 2nd Exhibition Center at 3 PM on the 16th, and this year, a special ‘King of Kings Tournament’ where cosplay and performances by previous award-winning teams will be held at the same location on the 17th at 3 PM.
In addition, the official G-STAR e-sports competition, the ‘G-STAR Cup 2024 Overwatch Tournament’, is a concept in which former and current Overwatch 2 pro-gamers and influencers will participate, and will be held for two days on the 16th and 17th at the Busan E-Sports Stadium to meet e-sports fans.
Mayor Park Hyung-joon said, “This year’s G-STAR will be held on the largest scale ever, marking its 20th anniversary, and we will focus all our capabilities and support to make it a success,” adding, “We will do our best to create a place where participating companies and visitors can have a special experience through various programs and thorough preparation support.”
