Gachon University’s Department of Game and Imaging held a preparatory college for new students in 2022 under the theme of ‘Verification of fun through board game design experience and prototypes’ from the 16th to the 18th at the Wolfer Board Game Cafe in Songpa-gu, Seoul. This preparatory college was hosted by the Department of Game and Imaging and Magic Bean Games, a board game company. Naver Cloud sponsored the Green Rookie program and Seongnam Game Healing Center sponsored the event and souvenirs.
The pre-university offers four subjects: ▲A correct understanding of game culture ▲Understanding and global trends in tabletop board games ▲Game design experience using board games ▲Social communication through team project experience. Students learn board game theory He developed game capabilities through direct game production and presentations. Students who completed the preparatory college acquired the ‘board game instructor level 2 certificate’.
The satisfaction of the students who participated in this program recorded a high score of 4.97 (out of 5), and the students agreed that it was an event where they understood and experienced the future college life and curriculum in advance.
The game and video department, an early employment contract department, directly participates in the entrance exam process from company officials and selects new students jointly with the university. During the first year, students intensively complete major basic competency and on-the-job training, and after completing the first year basic education course, they work for a company with a contract for employment.
In the 2nd and 3rd graders, they have the strength to advance into the industrial field as a professional manpower who has strengthened competitiveness while acquiring a bachelor’s degree by upgrading job competency in the industrial field along with intensive job-related education. It is possible to acquire professional knowledge in the living field and use time efficiently, such as a company-customized curriculum, scholarship benefits, early employment, and two years of experience at the same time as graduation.
