- New title from a solo developer in Melbourne… 170,000 demo downloads, official release on November 4
- Packed with over 200 retro game cartridges… A relaxing simulation focused on collecting and restoration
A new retro game restoration simulation game being developed by a solo developer in Melbourne, Australia, is receiving intense interest from global gamers even before its official release.
Indie developer Parasol Corp announced that the Steam wishlist for the new healing simulation game ‘Cozy Game Restoration,’ currently under development by solo developer Adam Stormhardt, has surpassed 400,000.
‘Cozy Game Restoration’ is a simulation game with a unique concept of cleaning and restoring old retro game cartridges bearing the marks of time. Players can experience the fun of building their own collection by undergoing a delicate restoration process, such as wiping away dust and stains accumulated on the cartridges and neatly removing old sticker residue.
The game emphasizes “healing play” as its core concept, allowing players to immerse themselves in restoration work at their own pace without any pressure, as there are no separate time limits or penalties for failure. Additionally, the developers stated that they took into account from the development stage the ability to play optimally not only on PC but also on the handheld Steam Deck.
‘Cozy Game Restoration,’ which is garnering attention for its distinctive concept evoking nostalgia for the past, is scheduled for official release on Steam for PC and Mac on November 4. The launch price is set at $14.99 (approximately 20,000 KRW).
Restoration and collection simulator to revive dusty cartridges
The game begins with the discovery of an old game cartridge in an unidentified package. The player must restore the worn cartridge to its original condition by wiping away years of accumulated dust and grime, and removing stickers, adhesive residue, and scratches.
The cartridges will contain over 200 virtual games inspired by games from the 1980s to the early 2000s. New games will continue to be added even after release.
Collectible elements are also given significant weight. Based on six types of retro-style platforms, a total of 108 games can be collected in PAL and NTSC versions, and cartridges are divided into five rarity levels.
Notes left by the previous owner can also be found on some cartridges. It stands out for going beyond simply cleaning the items to add the fun of discovering small stories and traces related to old used games.
300 Quests, Create Your Own Retro Gaming Space
The launch version features a total of 300 quests. You can receive various decorations and furniture as rewards by collecting cartridges or completing given cleaning tasks.
Acquired items can be used to decorate the player’s workspace. It involves repeatedly restoring and collecting cartridges to transform an ordinary space into a personal retro game collection area.
Another feature of the game is the exclusion of time limits and failure elements. Rather than focusing on quickly completing tasks, it centers on the process of cleaning cartridges one by one and filling up the collection.

Collaboration with actual indie games, and parodies hidden throughout.
Collaboration content with real-life indie games and a wealth of Easter eggs paying homage to famous works are also elements to look forward to. The game includes special cartridges based on titles such as ‘Abiotic Factor,’ which was hugely popular in the global market, and ‘Conscript,’ a survival horror game set in World War I, and additional collaboration lineups are scheduled to be revealed later.
Finding the parody elements hidden throughout the game is also part of the fun. A variety of Easter eggs reminiscent of famous titles have been prepared, ranging from a GTA-style game commemorating the highly anticipated Grand Theft Auto 6 (GTA 6) to a Zelda-style cartridge commemorating the remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.
In addition to the process of restoring retro games yourself, examining the names and designs of the cartridges to find out which works served as the inspiration is expected to be another source of enjoyment.

The Challenge of Adam Stormheart, a Solo Developer in Melbourne, Australia
‘Cozy Game Restoration’ is a game independently developed by Adam Stormheart, a solo developer based in Melbourne, Australia.
The developer, Parasol Corp, handled everything from development to publishing for this title in-house. By self-distributing without a separate publisher, they are focusing on development centered around tactile interaction, retro nostalgia, and the joy of discovering new things.
During the development process, we also had the opportunity to meet global users in person. We participated in the Australian Indie Showcase at ‘PAX Aus 2026,’ Australia’s largest game show, and the ‘ACMI Games Week’ showcase in succession, receiving a great response from attendees and proving the quality of the game.

Solo-developed game has 400,000 items on the wishlist… 170,000 demo downloads
User response prior to release has been significant. Currently, the Steam wishlist has surpassed 400,000 entries. 149,745 people applied to participate in the playtest held in early May. Following this, at Steam Next Fest in June, it ranked among the top 24 most played demos and recorded 171,679 downloads.
The growth in wishlists is also notable. After recording 200,000 on June 5, it surpassed 225,000 on June 9. It then increased to 400,000 in about four months, growing to nearly double the size it was at the time ahead of the launch.
Considering that this is a work created and distributed entirely by a single developer without the support of a major publisher, 400,000 wishlist items and over 170,000 demo downloads are notable achievements.
There has been a change to the release schedule. It was initially reported to be scheduled for September 24, but a recent announcement changed it to November 4. The specific reason for the schedule change has not been disclosed.
‘Cozy Game Restoration’ will be released on Steam for Windows and Mac on November 4. It is priced at $14.99 and supports a total of 19 languages.

‘Cozy Game Restoration’ chooses an analog experience of slowly reviving dusty old cartridges instead of flashy action or fierce competition.
As it started as a one-person development project and proved its unrivaled presence by securing 400,000 global wishlists even before its release, attention is focused on its future trajectory after November 4 to see if this intense interest can lead to actual global success and interesting sales results.
