- New title from Japanese solo developer ‘Browserlands’… Steam Next Fest demo revealed
- A cute twist with dessert characters, a waffle firing a machine gun in a new Snake-like game
Japanese indie game publishing label WorldMap announced that it will officially release the roguelike action game “Chocolate Parade,” developed by solo developer Browser Land, on Steam on November 6.
‘Chocolate Parade’ is a paradoxical snakes-like (shooting roguelike) title featuring charming and cute dessert characters who fight against swarms of enemies wielding powerful heavy weapons that stand in stark contrast to their appearance. The core fun of this game lies in the fiery projectiles that fill the screen and the chaotic, unpredictable battles that unfold.
Ahead of its official release, ‘Chocolate Parade’ is currently participating in ‘Steam Next Fest,’ a global festival for indie games. Users can download a free trial version (demo version) via the Steam store page without a separate key to experience the game’s unique gameplay before the official launch.
Gather Sweet as a companion and grow the parade.
‘Chocolate Parade’ is a roguelike action game where you roll Sweets to fight enemies and gather companions to create your own parade. You can recruit various Sweets as you progress through the stages, and the dynamics of combat change depending on your companion composition and how you utilize them.
Despite their cute appearances, the characters are armed with heavy weaponry. According to the developer’s description, unique sweets appear, such as waffles that fire machine guns instead of macarons, and Baumkuchens that shoot laser beams. A single playthrough lasts about four minutes, structured to allow players to enjoy repeated short battles.
From single-player to online co-op for up to 3 players
The game enhances the fun of multiplayer by fully supporting not only single-player mode where you can persistently challenge records alone, but also online cooperative play for up to three players to sweep the battlefield with friends. In particular, as the battle progresses, massive bosses that overwhelm the screen appear, instantly heightening the tension of the battlefield.
The key point to watch in this game is what kind of synergy and delightful fun cooperative gameplay will create as you team up with friends to take down bosses amidst chaotic bullet hell battles where charming sweet allies and swarming enemies fill the screen.
4-Stage Demo, Free Play During Next Fest
The free trial version available on the Steam store page can be downloaded and played immediately without the need for a separate key input.
In this demo version, four stages with different themes—such as ‘Sea’, ‘Plaza’, ‘Wilderness’, and ‘Castle’—are open. Players can recruit a variety of Sweets and even experience the core of the full game, online cooperative play for up to three players, in advance. The developers announced that the playtime for this trial version will take at least 10 minutes.
Since its initial reveal on August 6, the demo version is being intensively introduced to global gamers once again during ‘Steam Next Fest,’ which runs until October 26. Additionally, it is possible to add it to your ‘Wishlist’ via the official Steam page prior to the official release.
Solo Developer Browserland and Publisher WorldMap
Development was handled by Japanese solo developer Browserland. ‘Chocolate Parade’ is the second title following the previous work, ‘Tactics Greed’.
Publishing is handled by WorldMap, a company that plans, produces, and distributes game content. Through this title, WorldMap plans to showcase the developer’s capabilities and appeal to users both at home and abroad. The game was introduced sequentially ahead of its release, including the unveiling of its Steam store page last February and the presentation of a demo version at Tokyo Game Dungeon 13 in August.

‘Chocolate Parade’ is a game based on authentic Snake-like action where sweet and cute dessert characters wield heavy weapons full of unexpected twists to exhilaratingly wipe out swarming enemies, cleverly blending the charms of collecting companions and strong cooperative gameplay that offer unique fun in every match.
You can experience the game’s signature bullet hell combat and unique stages firsthand through the free demo distributed before the official release. ‘Chocolate Parade,’ a delightful free-for-all where bullets and desserts mingle, will be officially released on Steam on November 6.
