‘Steam Next Fest’ is an online event on the global PC game distribution platform Steam where users can experience demos of upcoming titles. It runs from October 20 to October 27 (KST), and during the event, anyone can play the demo of ‘Hello Seoul: Itaewon’ via PC Steam. The game supports a total of 10 languages, including Korean, English, Simplified Chinese, and Japanese.
At this event, we are showcasing a demo version that has been improved across the board, from puzzles and exploration to direction and controls, based on feedback collected from the previous demo and beta test, so that you can experience the gameplay that is different from the previous version.
The newly released demo further expands upon the sentiment of ‘Hello Seoul: Itaewon,’ which explores a space where the familiar Seoul has transformed into an unfamiliar one and follows the people within it. Additionally, it is structured to allow a glimpse into the next scenes of the as-yet-undisclosed story through newly connected sections.
First, the playable area has been expanded compared to the existing demo, and some new puzzles have been added to that section. This is designed to allow users to focus on the process of exploring the game space and solving problems itself.
In addition, visual completeness and narrative immersion have been enhanced. Art elements, such as certain backgrounds and objects, have been modified and supplemented, and some background details and sound effects have been added. Controls and gameplay convenience have also been improved. Through these changes, the game is designed to allow players to explore the spaces of ‘Hello Seoul: Itaewon’ and follow the story over a wider area than before, while maintaining the existing gameplay flow.
Along with this, new key art was unveiled for the first time to commemorate participation in Steam Next Fest. Centered on Seoul, the game’s main setting, the new key art captures the post-disaster atmosphere and the characters’ emotions, vividly showcasing the unique worldview and sensibility of ‘Hello Seoul: Itaewon’.
‘Hello Seoul: Itaewon’ is a narrative puzzle adventure game set in a near-future Seoul. It tells the story of the protagonist, Rion, as she tracks down clues related to the government’s space evacuation project in Seoul, which is on the verge of an asteroid collision. It features a focus on exploration, environmental puzzles, character relationships, and the story set against the backdrop of Seoul’s landscapes rendered in 2.5D pixel art.
“Through the recent beta test, we were able to identify what users felt during gameplay and areas that needed improvement,” said Kim Jin-ho, CEO of Gino Games. “We are currently supplementing certain elements based on the feedback we received.”
“He continued, ‘This Steam Next Fest demo expands the playable section compared to the previously released content and introduces new sections and some new puzzles.’ He added, ‘We hope those who played the demo before will also check out the newly added parts. We will do our best to continue refining the game until the official release so that we can present it in a better form.'”
Meanwhile, ‘Hello Seoul: Itaewon’ is scheduled for release on PC Steam, and you can currently add it to your wishlist on the Steam store page.
