Team Tapas’ ‘The Witch’s Garden’ Officially Launches After Approximately 1 Year and 3 Months of Early Access

    By Editorial Team2026년 08월 28일6 Mins Read
    • Officially released after 1 year and 3 months of Early Access, featuring combat revamp, story conclusion, and added Japanese dubbing.
    • Team Tapas’ first PC action game from ‘Drifting Girl’ & ‘Brave Restaurant’… 30% off on Steam and Stove

Korean indie game developer Team Tapas released the official version 1.0 of the PC action roguelike game ‘Garden of Witches’ on the 28th.

‘The Witch’s Garden’ has been receiving continuous updates for about 1 year and 3 months since its release as an Early Access title on Steam and STOVE on May 23, 2025.

Based on user feedback collected during the early access period, the development team completely revamped the combat system and improved the game as a whole by adding new storylines and character voiceovers.

Reorganized into unique weapon and engraving mechanisms instead of a synergy system

Set against the backdrop of a garden on the brink of collapse, ‘The Witch’s Garden’ tells the story of the protagonist witch Sil, who persuades her lazy and irresponsible fellow witches to return to the ‘Tea Party’ to prevent the garden’s downfall.

In the official version, the synergy system, which was the core of the existing combat system, has been removed, and the combat structure has been reorganized around the unique mechanisms of skills, weapons, engravings, and magical items.

In particular, with different critical hit rules applied to each weapon, how to enhance and utilize basic attacks has become even more important. Engravings change the very way skills are used.

For example, the Fireball skill can be used to aim for a single powerful attack by charging it, or to maximize hit chance by firing a continuous stream of small fireballs. This means that even with the same skill, you can construct completely different builds depending on the engraving you choose.

The control methods have also been expanded. In addition to existing keyboard controls, support for mouse aiming has been added, enabling more precise skill usage. The existing keyboard-only control method can still be selected.

The story content has also been expanded. Following ‘Epilogue 1’ released in Early Access, ‘Epilogue 2’ and ‘Epilogue 3’ have been added, bringing the main story to a conclusion in the official version.

Along with this, new bosses, events, and achievements have been added, and the quality of the UI and graphic resources has been improved. The roguelike elements centered on replayability have also been strengthened, with expanded branching based on choices and the introduction of new types of elite monsters.

A fairytale world where cuteness and dark fantasy coexist, Japanese dubbing added

‘The Witch’s Garden’ is characterized by a worldview that combines charming visuals with a dark fantasy atmosphere.

It stands out for combining cute visuals with real-time action, based on dreamy yet dark fairytale-style artwork and distinctive characters. Another key feature is the graphics, which further develop Team Tapas’ signature character design to suit the PC platform.

In the official version, new character voices have been added to further emphasize the personalities of the main characters.

In particular, Japanese character voices have been added to Main Chapters 1 through 5. In this process, the dialogue expressing interactions between witches has also been enriched, and new dialogue has been applied to all supported languages.

The development team is also considering adding voices to more characters through future updates.

‘Team Tapas’s’ first PC title, recorded 14 million cumulative downloads

Team Tapas is a domestic indie game developer that has recorded a cumulative 14 million downloads through mobile games such as ‘Drifting Girl’ and ‘Hero’s Diner’.

‘The Witch’s Garden’ is the first PC-based title presented by Team Tapas, a company that has primarily focused on mobile games, and marks their full-scale foray into the action genre.

The game is self-published by Team Tapas and is available on Steam and Stove. The development team is also exploring the possibility of expanding to other platforms in the future.

Regarding the official launch, Team Tapas stated, “We are very pleased to present the official version of ‘The Witch’s Garden,’ our first PC title and a new challenge in the realm of action games,” adding, “We thank the users who have been with us since Early Access.”

‘Overwhelmingly Positive’ Reviews in Early Access, Content Volume Is a Challenge

‘The Witch’s Garden’ has been highly acclaimed since its early access release.

As of June 10, 2025, 96% of the 541 Steam user reviews were positive, earning it an ‘Overwhelmingly Positive’ rating.

In particular, Team Tapas received favorable reviews for the cute art style and unique characters showcased in their previous mobile games, and the fact that it is a roguelike action game that can be enjoyed casually with simple controls was also well-received.

On the other hand, there were also criticisms that during the early access period, the amount of content was insufficient, the story was somewhat bland, and the builds tended to be uniform.

The complete overhaul of the combat system, the conclusion of the story, and the addition of new content in this official version are interpreted as the result of reflecting this initial feedback.

Domestic game media outlets also covered the official release, citing the addition of mouse control support and Japanese dubbing—which were frequently requested by users—as major changes.

‘The Witch’s Garden’ is the first PC game and action genre title for Team Tapas, a company known for its mobile games.

As the combat system and content have been significantly improved by incorporating user feedback during the approximately 1 year and 3 months of early access, attention is focused on how these changes will affect actual user evaluations after the official launch.

‘The Witch’s Garden’ is cited as a case where Team Tapas, known for its mobile games, elevated the quality of its first PC action game by faithfully incorporating user feedback during the early access period.

In particular, key factors determining future performance are expected to be whether the high ratings recorded during the early stages of Early Access can be maintained in the official version, and how effectively the completely revamped combat system and complete story have addressed criticisms regarding existing content and build diversity.
