Steam Wishlist surpasses 300,000… Steam Next Fest demo reaches 50,000 plays
Publisher Mindscape and developer Aesir Interactive have released a new launch trailer to celebrate the Early Access launch of their open-world adventure game , The Legend of Khiimori . The game is currently available in Early Access via Steam and the Epic Games Store.
“The Legend of Khiimori” is a systems-driven open-world adventure set in 13th-century Mongolia. Players take on the role of a messenger rider, exploring vast grasslands, snow-capped mountains, and deserts on horseback, completing a variety of missions.
Horses and exploration are at the heart of the game. Players can breed and train horses to develop unique abilities, creating a variety of breeds based on real-world genetics. Each horse, with its own unique characteristics, plays a crucial role in various situations, from long-distance travel to messenger missions.
Gamers must transport cargo, plan delivery routes, and prepare for harsh natural environments. Survival elements such as crafting, setting up camp, and hunting are also key gameplay elements. Spirits and supernatural elements based on Mongolian mythology also appear. The protagonist is also tasked with purifying corrupted areas and confronting wild animals.
“The Legend of Khiimori” achieved over 300,000 wishlists on Steam following its successful Kickstarter campaign in 2025. The Steam Next Fest demo, held in October 2025, also garnered significant attention, with over 54,000 plays.
The development team plans to continue expanding the game through Early Access, incorporating player feedback. Future additions include falconry, traditional Mongolian horse racing, a peace mode, horse and character customization, and new horse breeds.
The game is currently available in Early Access on Steam and the Epic Games Store, with the full version coming to PC and console platforms in the future.
