- Developed by K-indie studio TEAM HORAY, the second title following their debut work ‘Dungreed’
- Strategic artifact placement and up to 4-player co-op… An action roguelite perfected through Early Access
Cute rabbits fight against a legion of demons to protect the village. A K-indie roguelite combining charming visuals with heavy action is set for official release.
“Sephiria,” an action roguelite developed by TEAM HORAY, an indie game studio in Yongin, Gyeonggi-do, will be released as the official v1.0 version on July 31.
First unveiled via Steam Early Access in April 2025, ‘Sephiria’ has consistently enhanced its content by incorporating player feedback. With this official release, players can experience the complete version containing all the content envisioned by the development team. It supports not only single-player mode but also online co-op play for up to four players.
The contrast between cute chibi characters and heavy action
The most distinctive feature of Sephiroth is the contrast between its cute visuals and intense combat. Chibi-style animal characters, such as rabbits, cats, and foxes, wield weapons much larger than themselves to face off against legions of demons. The game completes its unique identity through a blend of charming graphics and exhilarating action.
The battles, unfolding from a top-down perspective, proceed at a fast pace. Set across 6 chapters, over 60 types of enemies and more than 10 bosses appear, and as the stages progress, increasingly powerful enemies pressure the player.
In cooperative play with up to four players, you must demonstrate teamwork by sharing items and reviving fallen teammates. Cooperative battles against legions of demons that fill the screen offer a different kind of fun compared to single-player.
A roguelite where inventory placement becomes the strategy
The core system of ‘Sephiria’ is strategic inventory management.
Players do not stop at simply collecting artifacts; they can obtain different effects depending on how they are placed in their inventory. Furthermore, the process of utilizing tablets to enhance artifact abilities and optimize combinations serves as a strategic element just as important as combat.
The weapon progression system is also deeply designed. Each of the six weapon types features over 50 upgrade elements, allowing for a new build every time. Talents unlocked during gameplay also add variations to combinations, creating completely different play styles even with the same weapon.
In cooperative play, the addition of item exchange and teammate resurrection systems makes role sharing and crisis response even more important.
From Dungreed to Sephiroth… TEAM HORAY’s Second Challenge
TEAM HORAY is a domestic indie game development company based in Yongin, Gyeonggi-do.
The flagship title, **’Dungreed’**, has been consistently well-received as a high-quality 2D action roguelite since its release in 2018. ‘Sephiria’ is the second roguelite project presented based on that know-how.
The development team has actively incorporated user feedback during the Early Access period and continuously improved content and balance, and plans to provide a complete game experience with this official launch.
Trust built since Early Access… Reactions from the community and media
‘Sephiria’ has been attracting the attention of roguelite fans since the early access stage.
In particular, the combination of cute characters and heavy action, along with a strategic build system centered on inventory placement, is receiving praise for offering “more deep growth and build fun than in ‘Dungreed’.”
Reactions from the community continue to include comments such as, “It is fun to play alone, but it becomes a completely different game when played with friends,” and “The artifact placement strategies are much deeper than expected.” Cooperative play, enjoyed by up to four players, is also receiving positive reviews among users who value teamwork and strategy.
TEAM HORAY’s flagship title, ‘Dungreed’, is a Korean action roguelite that has been well-received by global indie game fans, recording over 14,000 reviews and a ‘Very Positive’ rating on Steam.
The new title ‘Sephiria,’ which continues the potential of its predecessor, is also garnering anticipation even before its release, featuring cute visuals, a strategic growth system, and up to four-player co-op. Based on the polish refined during the Early Access period, attention is focused on whether ‘Sephiria’ can establish itself as TEAM HORAY’s new flagship title.
