- Developed and published in-house by Canadian indie studio Hatchery Games
- Anticipated Title with 400,000 Wishlists Officially Launches on Steam and Epic Games Store
- The Meeting of ‘Spore’ and ‘Warframe’… A Unique Evolution of a Sci-Fi Creature Shooter
Instead of commanding monsters, you become a monster yourself and fight. Voidling Bound, a sci-fi creature shooter developed by the Canadian indie studio Hatchery Games in Quebec, has been officially released on Steam and the Epic Games Store.
‘Voidring Bound’ is a game that combines third-person shooting action with creature collection, evolution, breeding, and DNA splicing systems. It has garnered attention overseas, often described as a game that blends ‘Spore’ and ‘Warframe’.
In particular, while existing monster collecting and raising games focused on commanding or directing creatures, this game is differentiated by the fact that the player forms a neural bond with the creature and becomes one to engage in direct combat.
The game garnered high anticipation, recording approximately 400,000 wishlists prior to its release, and is priced at $24.99 (varying by region). A 10% discount will be offered for the first two weeks after launch.
Alien life forms roaming a polluted planet… Reinterpreting sci-fi nostalgia with vibrant colors
‘Voidring Bound’ presents unique visuals inspired by classic sci-fi works. It distinctively portrays the landscape of a polluted alien planet through vibrant colors and bizarre creature designs.
Each planet is handcrafted with distinct colors and terrains, and players will explore and purify a world consumed by corruption. Creatures with bizarre yet lovable appearances complete the unique atmosphere.
The background music and battle sounds that change to match the atmosphere of each planet bring out the mystery of the sci-fi world and the fun of raising creatures, further enhancing the game’s immersion.
Creature action that combines rather than controls, fighting directly
The biggest feature of the game is the setting where the player does not become a ‘Space Wrangler’ and remotely control the Void Ring, but rather becomes the Void Ring itself through neural bonding.
Combat takes place directly through the Voidring’s body. From ranged shooting and melee attacks to powerful special skills, all actions are controlled by the player, and the appearance, abilities, and combat style change together depending on the branching growth path chosen during the evolution process.
Thanks to this, the character development system and action gameplay interlock organically, offering a unique kind of fun that sets it apart from existing monster collecting games.
Create your own Void Ring through crossbreeding and genetic combination
Voidring grows through leveling up, and you can build your desired play style by distributing points across five attributes: Strength, Stamina, Essence, Recovery, and Agility.
Hatching eggs found during exploration allows you to obtain new Void Rings, and there is a low chance that a rare individual called ‘Nature’ will appear. Additionally, by utilizing the breeding system, you can combine different abilities and attributes to create even more powerful individuals.
There are also abundant elements for appearance customization. Players can customize their own Void Rings by collecting body parts, colors, and eye genes, and create creatures with diverse personalities through DNA splicing.
‘The Abyss,’ the game’s end-game content, is an endlessly challenging mode. As you descend deeper, enemies become stronger, but the rewards also increase, stimulating the desire of skilled players to take on the challenge.
The first challenge of the former Skylanders development team
Hatchery Games is a new indie studio located in Quebec City, Canada. Based on their past experience developing the ‘Skylanders’ series, the team established the studio with the goal of creating a new type of monster collecting game.
They are promoting the core concept of “an experience where the player directly becomes a creature and fights, rather than commanding one.” Furthermore, they have been actively promoting the game since before its launch, including releasing a video introducing the Voidling race in collaboration with famous content creator ‘Canadian Guy Eh’.
Overseas media outlets such as Forbes, GameTyrant, DualShockers, and Mugthief have also introduced it as a highly anticipated title, praising its unique concept and action.
