City-building game ‘Go-Go Town!’ surpasses 100,000 copies sold one month after official release

    By Editorial Team2026년 08월 23일5 Mins Read
    • Tops Steam New Release Chart, Simultaneously Sweeps 1st and 2nd Place in Nintendo Switch Sales in Japan, UK, and US
    • To commemorate surpassing 100,000 copies sold, six languages including Polish and Turkish, as well as new decoration sets, are scheduled to be added.

Prideful Sloth, an indie game developer based in Brisbane, Australia, announced that its cooperative city-building game ‘Go-Go Town!’ has surpassed 100,000 cumulative sales within one month of its official release.

‘Go-Go Town!’ was officially released on PC, Nintendo Switch, and Nintendo Switch II on July 16. Immediately after its release, it topped the Steam New Releases chart and achieved notable success on the Nintendo Switch sales chart, ranking 1st and 2nd in Japan, the UK, and the US, respectively.

Developer Prideful Sloth announced that, in order to repay the support of users, they plan to add various new content in addition to the previously released post-launch roadmap.

From markets to tourist attractions, creating your own village amidst chaos

‘Go-Go Town!’ is a cooperative city-building simulation game where you revitalize a nearly abandoned settlement and turn it into a vibrant town.

The player is granted the position of mayor by the mysterious large corporation TownCo. and takes charge of running a town. They must not only build shops and hire staff but also automate parcel deliveries, attract tourists, manage various infrastructure, and even prevent disasters.

Up to four players can enjoy online or local co-op play, and cooperate with each other using features such as chat, emotes, and location pings. It is characterized by creating enjoyable chaos through players bumping into each other and unpredictable situations occurring throughout the town.

In Creative Mode, added with the official launch, you can freely customize new maps without any money limits. Additionally, a new Treasure Hunting system has been introduced, allowing you to explore every corner of the game world to find collectibles.

Industrial & Rustic Decoration Sets, New Support for 6 Languages

To celebrate the official launch, developer Prideful Sloth is expanding new decorative content and language support.

The newly added decorative assets are centered around Industrial and Rustic themes. Various objects to decorate the town will be added, including arches, barricades, streetlights, as well as new Vehicle Stalls, fuel pumps, and haystacks.

Language support is also being expanded. Six new languages, including Polish, Turkish, Russian, Italian, Dutch, and Indonesian, are scheduled to be supported. However, unfortunately, Korean was not included in the list of newly supported languages.

Brisbane 5-Person Studio, a team of AAA veterans, hits the jackpot with its third film

Prideful Sloth is a five-person indie game studio based in Brisbane, Australia. The development team consists of veterans with experience working on various major franchises, including ‘Batman: Arkham’, ‘The Elder Scrolls’, ‘Devil May Cry’, ‘Rock Band’, ‘Guitar Hero’, and ‘Rome: Total War’.

Starting with their first title, ‘Yonder: The Cloud Catcher Chronicles’, in 2017, the studio released ‘Grow: Song of the Evertree’ in 2021. ‘Go-Go Town!’ is their third title and has achieved the greatest commercial success among the games released by the studio to date.

Creative Director Cheryl Vance commented, “We are deeply grateful for the success of our game amidst difficult times for the industry. Thanks to the Early Access community that has been with us for two years, we were able to successfully launch version 1.0 on PC, Nintendo Switch, and Switch 2 and welcome new markets.”

“A satisfying growth loop even if slightly lacking in charm”… Praised by both critics and users

‘Go-Go Town!’ is receiving positive reviews from both critics and users.

On Metacritic, it received a ‘Generally Favorable’ rating with a score of 81 based on 4 critic reviews. On Steam, it also maintains an ‘Overwhelmingly Positive’ rating, with 95% of over 2,500 total user reviews being positive.

One media outlet evaluated it by stating, “On the surface, it is cozy and glamorous, but beneath it lies a surprisingly satisfying management game where you build a self-sustaining economy.” In particular, it introduced it as a game that would satisfy users who have enjoyed ‘Animal Crossing,’ ‘Dinkum,’ and a lighter version of ‘Cities: Skylines.’

The game’s sound design has also received positive reviews. There are ongoing comments that detailed sounds, ranging from the various sound effects that occur when building a village to the sound of a chainsaw, have been well implemented.

Building on the community support built since the Early Access phase, ‘Go-Go Town!’ continues to show steady growth following its official launch. Starting with this new content, Prideful Sloth plans to continuously expand the game while continuing its development journey toward its next project as an independent studio.
