- Buenos Aires Eggscape Entertainment and 3dar joint development
- Ranked in the top 25 for concurrent users at Steam Next Fest demos
- A crew cooperative game where you sway through turbulence and even put out an engine fire.
A delightful new indie title, where players must physically fend off unimaginable disasters unfolding on an airplane, has made a strong impression on global gamers and rapidly emerged as a highly anticipated next-generation cooperative game.
Banana Airways, a cooperative comedy game co-developed by Eggscape Entertainment and 3dar, proudly ranked in the top 25 at Steam Next Fest based on the number of concurrent users for its demo version.
‘Banana Airways’ is a 1- to 6-player multiplayer cooperative game where you become a flight attendant who must safely escort passengers to their destination and deal with all sorts of absurd disasters that occur randomly on board.
Developed by two talented teams based in Buenos Aires, Argentina, it is attracting attention with its unique comedic sensibility of destroying friendships (?) with friends inside a chaotic airplane.
From hungry passengers to burning engines… in-flight problems are the crew’s responsibility.
The player becomes a flight attendant and is engaged in non-stop duties, such as diligently serving in-flight meals to hungry passengers while isolating and treating passengers exposed to radiation.
The player’s role is not limited to inside the cabin. You may have to crawl directly onto the wings of a moving airplane to repair a broken engine or plug a hole in the fuselage with your entire body. If the hole is not plugged in time and is left unattended, you will witness a catastrophic disaster where part of the cabin is instantly sucked into the middle of the sky.
These are not the only factors that turn the cabin into a mess. Radiation-contaminated chickens that could explode at any moment and starving livestock roam the cabin, while passengers must also look after baby passengers who cry incessantly. If a baby is left unattended, the pilot may end up crawling into the cockpit, grabbing the steering wheel, and piloting the aircraft themselves.
You can struggle through this chaotic flight alone, or invite up to five friends to work together with a total of six people to sort it out. The developers emphasized the game’s unique genre appeal, stating, “Instead of recreating a realistic flight simulation, we focused on the fun of the delightful chaos itself—shaking up a pandemonium with friends.”
In-flight chaos created by cooperative crisis management and physics comedy
The development team highlighted cooperative gameplay where all kinds of disasters explode simultaneously from all directions and ‘physics-based comedy’ as the game’s key features.
When severe turbulence occurs, the player characters sway and roll around like ragdolls or paper dolls, and a strange situation unfolds where they must steadfastly serve hot coffee amidst the chaos of burning engines or wildly intoxicated passengers.
On top of that, extraordinary crises that completely overwhelm the players constantly strike, such as a ticking time bomb that could explode at any moment and aircraft being damaged in real time.
Cartoon-style 3D graphics and first-person perspective… Supports 31 languages including Korean
According to the Steam store page, the core of this game lies in sophisticated physics-based gameplay and comedy elements, while putting cartoon-style graphics, eye-catching vibrant colors, and an immersive first-person perspective front and center. In particular, the cleaner and more optimized visuals, built on the latest Unity 6 engine, are also eye-catching features.
The localization service for global users also receives a passing grade. With confirmed support for a total of 31 extensive languages, including English and Spanish, as well as Korean, Japanese, and Simplified and Traditional Chinese, global indie gamers of various nationalities can comfortably enjoy the game without language barriers.
Co-developed by two Buenos Aires development teams… Console version also in preparation
‘Banana Airways’ is a title created through the joint development of Eggscape Entertainment Inc. and 3dar. Interestingly, both companies are studios based in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and Eggscape Entertainment is in charge of publishing.
Currently, the officially announced platform is PC Steam, but a console version is also closely planned for the future . However, specific supported consoles and the exact release date for the console versions will be announced later.
Top 25 in Concurrent Demo Users… Developers Ask for Player Feedback
The development team officially announced that immediately after the opening of Steam Next Fest, the demo version achieved the feat of entering the top 25 based on the number of concurrent users.
Although specific ranking times, exact user numbers, and current Steam user ratings and wishlist cumulative figures have not been disclosed, it is noteworthy that it has ignited an early success amidst fierce competition from new indie titles.
Eggscape Entertainment reminded users once again of the absurd situations in the trailer, such as the shocking sight of chickens eating each other inside the cabin or a baby taking control and shaking the aircraft, and urged, “We look forward to users’ vivid impressions and feedback on how the flight in the demo we prepared was.”
The free demo of ‘Banana Airways’, which has captured the tastes of global gamers and delivered delightful chaos, can be experienced until the 26th, when Steam Next Fest concludes.
