‘Fairy Tail’ original author and indie game developer to invest 1 million yen

    By Editorial Team2021년 11월 09일2 Mins Read

Hiro Mashima, the author of the Japanese animation ‘Fairy Tail’, which deals with the adventures and camaraderie of the mage guild, has offered a prize of 1 million yen (approximately 10 million won) to indie game developers.

According to animation streaming site Crunchyroll, Hiro Masima will provide an indie developer with a prize money of 1 million yen for the development of a game based on his masterpiece ‘Fairy Tail’. Creators Lab (Kodansha Game Creators Lab) announced that 500,000 yen (about 5 million Korean Won) will be added to this and a total of 1.5 million yen (about 15 million Korean Won) will be paid out.

“I am also a Monster Hunter addict and hardcore gamer,” said Hiro Masima, referring to himself. “Any genre is good, such as RPG, action, platformer, simulation, FPS, puzzle, card, sandbox game, zombie games are fine, it doesn’t matter how small the game is,” he added.

The only condition for the project is that it can be developed within one year on iOS and Android as the default platform, and the developer must agree to provide the copyright for the game developed by Kodansha to Kodansha.

The original ‘Fairy Tail’ is a work published in 2006 and deals with the story of the main character, the dragon mage ‘Natsu’, fighting the hordes of evil with the companions of ‘Fairy Tail’, a magic guild. A total of 63 volumes have been released by 2017. It is a popular work that has sold over 70 million copies worldwide.

Indie game developers who wish to participate in the contest can participate through the link below.
