    icefill Studio, a solo Korean indie developer, officially brought the tactical depth of Crawl Tactics to mobile platforms on May 13, 2026. After a successful tenure on PC since 2022, this turn-based RPG aims to capture the nostalgia of classic SRPGs while providing the infinite replayability of a modern roguelike.

    A “Living” Isometric Battlefield

    Crawl Tactics stands out with its refined isometric pixel art and a battlefield that behaves according to the laws of physics.

    • Environmental Synergies: Fire spreads across grass, lightning deals massive area damage when striking water-soaked enemies, and poison clouds turn into deadly explosions when touched by a spark.
    • Physical Interaction: Players can push or throw enemies into traps, or even roll boulders down hills to crush oncoming foes.
    • Tactical Depth: Success is determined by height advantages, unit positioning, and the clever use of battlefield machinery like ballistas and catapults.

    Dungeons, Quests, and Endless Customization

    The game offers a staggering amount of content for a solo-developed project, featuring over 40 classes, 300 skills, and 200 unique weapons. Players can engage with the world through two primary lenses:

    1. Dungeon Mode: A procedurally generated crawl that offers a fresh tactical challenge with every run.
    2. Quest Mode: A broader campaign where players build up a town and train mercenaries to repel increasingly difficult invasions.

    For those seeking a true challenge, the game includes a New Game Plus mode, a “Rebirth” system for character growth, and a “Torment” difficulty level for seasoned veterans.

    A Six-Year Labor of Love

    The development of Crawl Tactics began in 2018, born from the developer’s desire to fix a common issue in the SRPG genre: the long “wind-up” time before a game becomes fun. icefill Studio focused on making the game engaging from the very first minute, utilizing clear UI and tooltips to ensure players could jump straight into the action without a manual.

    While the mobile version omits mod support and certain skirmish content, it delivers the same critically acclaimed core experience that fans have lauded on PC.

    Developed alone since 2018… “Making fun games from the start”

    Icefield Studio is an indie studio run by a solo developer from Korea. Development of Crawl Tactics began in 2018, before the completion of the first game, SFD. The core idea was to create an FTL-style roguelike, but with dungeon exploration and tactical combat at the center instead of spaceship management.

    One of the problems with traditional SRPGs was that it took a long time to experience the true fun of the game. Icefield Studios aimed to create a fun game from the start, and set a goal to design the game as clearly as possible so that it could be enjoyed without a manual through tooltips and UI.

    Furthermore, since the Steam release, user feedback has been actively incorporated to improve the graphics, UI, game systems, and difficulty overall, thereby elevating the game’s quality. The launch of this mobile version is an example of extending the results of these improvements to more platforms.
