- High-speed action set in the future of 2097… Records and competition are key.
- Discover hidden shortcuts and alternative routes in a millisecond speed battle… Officially released on PC Steam
British indie game developer Upstream Arcade and publisher Weekend Games have officially released the ultra-fast precision action game ‘Echobreaker’ on PC Steam.
‘Ecobreaker’ is a speedrunner game where you directly control experimental combat equipment that manipulates time to traverse various combat courses as quickly as possible. Since every moment counts for your record, precise movement and quick judgment are crucial, and the faster you attempt to achieve a faster time, the higher the risks you must take.
The game is set in the year 2097. Players take on the role of a pilot in an experimental armored vehicle equipped with an unstable ‘Temporal Echo Drive’ and participate in a field test conducted by TDS Industries. They must test the limits of their equipment and themselves while navigating a live-fire course where survival itself is difficult.
Each stage is handcrafted to test speed, combat, and control proficiency. Players must navigate the course by combining superhuman movements and split-second decisions, and using ‘Echo State’ allows them to slow down time to defeat enemies or continue consecutive attacks. It is also possible to gain explosive acceleration or discover hidden shortcuts.
In particular, as the speed increases, the surrounding reality changes and new paths appear. Utilizing this allows for setting much faster records than before, but it requires correspondingly precise manipulation.
Repetitive play to shorten records and a system for this
‘Ecobreaker’ offers various features for speed runners and users who enjoy record competition.
You can instantly restart a stage to retry immediately after failure, and you can also load your previous gameplay into Ghost Run to compare your moves. Additionally, ranking-based Time Trials and a global leaderboard are available, allowing you to compete for records with users worldwide.
Users who perfectly clear each stage can also attempt the additional challenge mode. By adding new rules and variables to the existing stages, it demands an even higher level of reaction speed and control skills.
‘Ecobreaker’ is currently on sale for $8.99 on PC Steam, with a 15% discount applied to celebrate its launch.
The core fun of ‘Ecobreaker’ lies in its unique gameplay, which involves manipulating time to overturn split-second decisions and taking risks to shorten records. In particular, as players can constantly test their limits through repeated challenges, ghost runs, and global leaderboards, it remains to be seen whether this will become a new arena of challenge for speedrunners who enjoy speed and precise control.
