The Game Cultural Foundation (hereinafter referred to as the Game Cultural Foundation, Chairman Kim Gyeong-il), the Busan Indie Connect Festival Organizing Committee (hereinafter referred to as the BIC Organizing Committee, Chairman Seo Tae-gun), and Pearl Abyss (CEO Heo Jin-young) will present the best Korean indie games selected for the ‘BIGEM’ project. We will fully support participation in the ‘Taipei Game Show 2023 (hereinafter referred to as TPGS 2023)’ exhibition.
Selected works participating in the TPGS 2023 exhibition to be held in February will be ▲Olympos (‘Sky Island’) ▲Kogu (‘Loco Island’) ▲Exrix (‘Shambles’) ▲Sinkhole Studio (‘Ogu and Secret), Forest of ‘), each of which was nominated for and won the Busan Indie Connect Festival 2022 Award held last September.
Olympus’ ‘Sky Island’ is a quarter-view action-adventure game in which Pino, who has crash-landed on an unknown island, and Puri, a forest spirit, go on an adventure together. All of the team members made up of alumni students, were praised by many visitors for their excellent graphics and beautiful directing, and were nominated for the ‘Art’ and Game Design categories of the BIC Awards Rookie Division.
Kogu’s ‘Loco Island’ is a puzzle adventure game that follows Evelyn, who has fallen on an unknown island, to solve the island’s secrets. ‘Loco Island,’ a game with a puzzle of difficulty that anyone can enjoy without much burden and a warm story with a message of healing, has been nominated for the ‘Grand Prix,’ the general category of the BIC Awards 2022, and has been selected as a Pocket Edition by Apple. It’s about to launch on the App Store.
Ixrix’s ‘Shambles’, which won the ‘Rising Star’ award in the rookie category, is a deck-building game that explores the world 500 years after a great war destroyed civilization. Although it was composed mainly of narrative, it showed a high degree of perfection by delivering the story in three dimensions, not only through text but also through various effects, such as a vast amount of illustrations and various endings.
Sinkhole Studio and Moonlab Studio’s ‘Ogu and the Secret Forest’ is a 2D adventure game that explores the secret forest with the popular emoticon character ‘Baby Ogu.’ It was praised for providing gamers with a fantastic experience through a vast worldview and various in-game elements while using well-known IP to give a sense of familiarity. Jury’s Award’ and ‘Casual’ category of the winners of the name was vomited.
‘BIGEM’ is an excellent indie game support project for works exhibited in the competition section of the Busan Indie Connect Festival. It started with the intention of expanding the indie game ecosystem by providing various global promotion opportunities, including full support for participation in domestic and international exhibitions.
‘Taipei Game Show 2023’, which kicks off on February 2nd, will be held at Nangang Exhibition Center in Taiwan and will be held for a total of 4 days, including B2B and B2C periods. The four developers of ‘BIGEM’ participating in ‘The Taipei Game Show 2023’ plan to visit Taiwan, directly participate in the exhibition, and communicate with global gamers and industry officials.
