The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism will expand support for small and medium-sized game companies for the sustainable growth of the game industry, which accounts for a large proportion of exports in the content industry. In particular, through game planning support as a new business, a support system for each growth stage will be established so that the game planning of preliminary founders (30 companies) and startups (20 companies) can lead to start-ups and commercialization. In addition, the game production support period will be extended from single year to multi-year so that the unique originality and challenging spirit of the game can be fully demonstrated, and a total of 30 tasks and a budget of 9 billion won will be newly supported in 2023. It is expected that various excellent works will be supported by compensating for the shortcomings of the existing business, which had many limitations in genre selection, technology advancement, and securing completeness due to the short project period.
In addition, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism plans to expand support for the overall game industry by hosting e-sports competitions for the disabled to improve accessibility for the disabled and nurturing professional e-sports personnel.
To this end, expansion of education to understand games for teenagers, guardians, and teachers (45,000 → 80,000 people), expansion of amateur e-sports competitions and hosting of competitions for the disabled (once a year → twice a year, separate competitions for the disabled), specializing in e-sports It plans to designate five human resource training institutions to support educational operation.
