    Busan City to hold a briefing session for the 2022 game industry development support project

    The city of Busan (Mayor Hyung-Jun Park) and the Busan Information Industry Promotion Agency (President Moon-Seop Jeong) announced on the 15th that they would hold the ‘2022 Busan Game Industry Promotion Support Project Briefing’ on March 16th at 2pm online.

    This briefing session will be held online and non-face-to-face due to the prolonged COVID-19 outbreak, and anyone interested in the game industry, including game companies and prospective founders, can participate through the Busan Global Game Center YouTube channel.

    Through a business briefing session, the Promotion Agency will announce 15 support projects in six areas including ▲ game company incubation ▲ game contents production support ▲ game contents commercialization support ▲ expansion of financial support through funds.

    This year’s support project It was formed in accordance with the promotion strategy to foster a number of small and medium-sized enterprises in the region, and various projects are carried out centering on the Busan Global Game Center.

    In particular, in the field of game content production support, the Bu:star all-in-one package field is newly established to operate mid- to long-term projects that are linked to production support, advancement support, and marketing support, thereby discovering and nurturing excellent local content that can succeed in the global market.

    In addition, BGC Metaverse-linked incubating occupancy rooms are established to actively respond to changing game industry trends through effective business collaboration with overseas game companies and developers. We plan to provide support from various angles to foster Busan indie game startups, such as holding an indie game festival.

    With regard to game content commercialization support, a new game content analysis & launch support project that improves the level of content completion provides BM consulting, index analysis guide for each game, and improvement plans.

    The “No. 3 Fund” will also be formed to attract investment from game & content companies in Busan. Starting with the first fund in 2020 (Laguna Dynamic Game & Contents Fund), the second fund (Babyshark Next Unicorn IP Fund) was formed last year to make local investments. It plans to draw out a lot of financial support.

    In addition, in connection with the Busan Contents Academy, more diverse support projects than last year will be introduced, such as a labor cost support project for new personnel and an intensive training game camp for working people.

    Jung Moon-seop, head of the Busan Information Industry Promotion Agency, said, “Last year, G-Star was re-invited for 8 years, and the status of ‘Game City Busan’ is increasing day by day, with many promising game companies inquiring about moving into the Busan Global Game Center.” We will spare no effort to support the game industry so that it can take a leap forward as a key industry responsible for Busan’s economy.”

    Meanwhile, the Busan Global Game Center (BGC) is operated by the Busan Information Industry Promotion Agency with the support of Busan Metropolitan City, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and the Korea Creative Content Agency to foster the game industry in the Busan region. It has achieved excellent grades for three consecutive years in the evaluation, contributing to strengthening the competitiveness of Busan game companies through various support projects.
