- The party-based roguelite debut of the Greek 3-person indie team SOTO Game Studio
- 8 types of Lumina Party Buildings, 64 Skills, 90 Treasures… Entering Steam Early Access on July 24, 2026
SOTO Game Studio, a three-person indie developer based in Athens, Greece, will release the single-player party-based survivor roguelite ‘Luminas: Parasite Reign’ on Steam Early Access on July 24.
The game is set in Solaris Land, a world overrun by monsters called ‘Parasites’. Players must form a party of three magical creatures called Luminas, each with different abilities, to face endless waves of enemies. The key is to survive until the end by combining the Luminas’ attributes and skills to create powerful synergy, and by utilizing ever-changing builds and growth elements.
Battlefields perfected with voxel graphics… capturing both strategy and visibility
Luminas: Parasite Lane features a unique atmosphere utilizing voxel graphics. Solaris Land, implemented in block form, consists of three biomes, each with different colors and environments, adding to the fun of exploration.
Even amidst the chaotic battles characteristic of the bullet hell genre, where hundreds of parasites fill the screen, the voxel style makes it easy to grasp the battlefield situation at a glance. In addition, the elemental-based skill effects and linked combo animations used by each Lumina enhance the visual satisfaction of combat.
The ever-changing treasure acquisition and Lumina evolution paths are also elements that maintain the tension of the gameplay. Along with the unique fun of roguelites where you cannot predict which combination will be formed, the boss battles and wave compositions emphasize the genre’s characteristic immersion.
8 Types of Lumina and 64 Skills… Party Combinations Determine Victory
The game’s biggest feature is its party-centric strategy system. Players form a party by selecting up to three of the eight types of Lumina.
Each Lumina possesses a distinct role and play style, ranging from an offensive ‘Glass Cannon’ to a tank with high survivability, and a character that utilizes death and resurrection. Additionally, 64 types of skills have been added to create various synergy combinations, and in specific Lumina combinations, powerful combo skills combining the abilities of two characters can be used.
The growth system is also diverse. Players can evolve Lumina during gameplay to acquire new abilities and stats, and increase enemy difficulty or add new variables through the ‘Corruption’ system, which alters game rules. Additionally, over 90 types of equipable treasures provide various effects, and long-term growth elements are provided through skill trees and evolution upgrades.
The Early Access version is expected to feature 3 maps, 8 types of Lumina, and over 90 types of treasure items.
Marketing, Development, Creative… The first project created by 3 friends
SOTO Game Studio is an indie development company founded by three friends who worked together at a digital agency in Athens, Greece. The three, who were responsible for marketing, development, and creative respectively, took on the challenge of game development based on their shared interest in the roguelite genre, and ‘Luminas: Parasite Rain’ is their first release.
The game has been garnering attention since before its release for its differentiated concept as a party-based survivor roguelite. Unlike existing survivor genres that focus simply on surviving, it is praised for offering a unique kind of fun by emphasizing party composition and synergy design as the core of gameplay.
The development team plans to continuously add new game modes, Luminas, skills, maps, and bosses during the Early Access period by actively incorporating user feedback. Furthermore, they intend to develop the game by communicating directly with players, primarily through the Discord community.
