Time is a resource… Roguelite RPG ‘Clockfall’ Launches Early Access

    By Editorial Team2026년 06월 15일4 Mins Read
    • New collaboration between French indie developer Rever Games and Radical Theory
    • A combination of dungeon crawling and village defense, a double-loop structure utilizing ‘time’ as a core resource

Clockfall, an action RPG roguelite co-developed by French indie studio Rever Games GmbH and publisher Radical Theory, has been released via Steam Early Access.

Featuring a unique system that utilizes time as a resource, this game is a hybrid roguelike action RPG that combines dungeon crawling and village defense. Players secure survival time through combat and choices within a repeating time loop, utilizing it as a core resource for growth and strategy.

Ruins where the clock has stopped, an unending loop

The game is set in a village destroyed by the forces of ‘Destiny’. An unidentified clock appearing amidst the ruins rewinds the player to the moment of the massacre, trapping them in an endless loop of time. The player’s goal is to break the repeating loop within a limited time, confront their fate, and save their family.

Clockfall is set in a gloomy world that combines dark fantasy and Lovecraftian horror. The dungeons and ruins, rendered in an isometric 3D perspective, combine tension-building background music, impactful sound effects, and sophisticated visual effects (VFX) to provide an immersive experience, making you feel as if you have stepped into a recurring nightmare.

The development team stated that they plan to continuously improve the sound, visual effects, and overall presentation during the early access period.

Buy, spend, and dominate time… The dual structure of dungeon crawling and village defense

The core of Clockfall is a system that utilizes ‘time’ as a resource rather than a mere limiting factor. Players must complete battles within a time limit while exploring dungeons, and the time earned can be converted into permanent bonuses or powerful abilities.

The game is divided into two main stages: the ‘Dungeon Crawling’ stage, where you collect resources and equipment in dungeons, and the ‘Village Defense’ stage, where you defend the village against enemies invading it based on this.

Effectively utilizing the synergy between the two stages is key to breaking the loop. Due to the nature of the roguelite structure, where conditions vary each time, players must establish strategies and builds suited to the situation.

“A game completed together with the community”… Operating a feedback system centered on Discord and Steam

Developer Rever Games GmbH recognizes balance adjustments as a core element, considering the structural characteristics of the hybrid genre, and plans to actively gather user feedback through Early Access.

The team plans to share improvements via the official Discord and Steam Community Hub, and proceed with gameplay adjustments and content expansion in stages.

The Early Access period is expected to last approximately 6 to 12 months, during which new dungeons, weapons, spells, and enemy types will be added sequentially. Multilingual support is also planned to be expanded before the official launch. The price will remain the same throughout Early Access and after the official release.

‘Clockfall’ features a premise where time is used as a resource to break the cycle of repeating fate, and presents a structural experiment combining dungeon crawling and town defense. As this game continues to improve its quality together with the community, it is stimulating fans’ happy imaginations about what changes it will bring to the roguelite genre.
