A joint public-private delegation from South Korea recently visited Ho Chi Minh City to strengthen ties with Vietnam’s rapidly growing game industry. Participating in Vietnam GameVerse 2026, held from May 8 to 9 at the Saigon Exhibition and Convention Center (SECC), the delegation engaged in high-level dialogues, educational outreach, and business networking to foster a collaborative indie game ecosystem.
The visit serves as a follow-up to the game industry cooperation MOU signed last year and the cultural cooperation agreement established during President Lee Jae-myung’s state visit to Vietnam in April.

Strategic Dialogue and Indie Innovation
On May 7, the Korean delegation met with key Vietnamese officials, including Le Quang Tu Do, Director General of the Authority of Broadcasting and Electronic Information (ABEI) under the Ministry of Information and Communications. The two nations discussed in-depth strategies for nurturing game development talent and industrial cooperation.
A centerpiece of the trip was the Korea-Vietnam Indie Game Seminar on May 8:
- Policy Sharing: The Korea Creative Content Agency (KOCCA) presented policies for promoting indie games, while the Game Rating and Administration Committee (GRAC) introduced Korean game regulations.
- Success Stories: Korean developers shared case studies of successful indie launches to an enthusiastic audience of local developers and studio representatives.
- Visionary Opening: Yoo Byung-han, Chairman of the Game Culture Foundation, opened the seminar by emphasizing the importance of cross-border synergy in the indie sector.
Promoting K-Games and Digital Literacy
The K-Game Culture Integrated PR Hall featured five small and medium-sized Korean developers, including Zerogram and Storytaco, showcasing the quality and diversity of Korean titles to the Vietnamese market.
In addition to business promotion, the delegation prioritized social responsibility through Youth Game Literacy Education:
- Target Audience: Over 50 local students and parents participated in the program.
- Curriculum: Led by Director Choi Jung-ho of the Chinjulhan-Jungho-Ssam Psychological Counseling Institute, the session focused on preventing game addiction and guiding healthy gaming habits.
- Family Engagement: A “Game Activity Sheet Ceremony” allowed families to commit to healthy gaming together.
