    A small project that started from the pure desire to play on a sled with friends in the snow has reached its official launch after heating up social media and gathering the expectations of players around the world.

    “Sledding Game,” a multiplayer snow sports Hangout game developed by American solo developer Max (The Sledding Corporation), was released on Steam Early Access on April 30 and simultaneously listed as a Day One title on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox Game Pass, and PC Game Pass.

    Sledding is a social snow sports game based on proximity voice chat and ragdoll physics that can accommodate up to 30 participants, focusing on the ‘joy of playing together’ rather than competition.

    It garnered attention by recording millions of views on social media platforms such as TikTok and Instagram, and the Steam demo surpassed 80,000 wishlist items in its first week alone. Even after its official release, it continues to demonstrate high expectations by achieving a ‘Very Positive’ rating with 97% positive user reviews on Steam.

    No competition, no goals, just a game of having fun on the snow

    The sledding game is simple with absolutely no complexity. Players can descend snow-covered hills, bump into friends, tumble around, and enjoy various mini-games.

    In addition to competitive racing, there are also relaxing activities available, such as darts, snowball fights, snowman building, curling, and marshmallow roasting. The atmosphere is relaxed, just like being at a winter camp with friends.

    The true value of a game lies in the way it unites players. Because proximity voice chat allows only the sounds of nearby players to be heard, every space within the game naturally becomes a social hub.

    The sounds of friends’ laughter, mistakes, and pranks are conveyed exactly as they are, completing a realistic gameplay experience. The humorous sequence where a Yeti appears and pushes the player back in if they go too far off the map is also an element that enhances the game’s atmosphere.

    The early access release version includes over 90 cosmetic items, more than 20 types of sleds, 12 characters, and 20 types of fish that can be caught by fishing. Players can express their individuality with cute chibi characters such as frogs, penguins, and bears, and the game is structured so that players can earn in-game currency through various activities on the slopes to acquire additional items.

    You can customize your sled with over 70 trinkets, and the game features 37 challenges and the ability to place construction items such as speed ramps and jump pads. Developer Max stated that during the 12-month Early Access period leading up to the official release, they plan to continuously add mini-games, social features, and items, and that community feedback will be a key pillar of development.

    TikTok Viral: 80,000 Wishlist Items in First Week of Demo, Media Attention

    The growth of the Sledding Game began on social media. Developer Max shared the development process on YouTube, TikTok, and Instagram, accumulating millions of views, and the official Instagram followers surpassed 530,000.

    The free demo released on September 25, 2025, topped the Steam Free Popular Games chart, adding 80,000 wishlists in its first week alone. The game recorded over 120,000 players and more than 2,000 positive reviews.

    Overseas media also showed a positive reaction. VICE described it as “looking like the most lovable game in the world,” while Rock Paper Shotgun gave a concisely favorable review, stating, “Ragdolls are always welcome.” TheXboxHub emphasized its appeal as a party-oriented multiplayer game, describing it as “a game where rolling around in style is more important than winning.”

    The debut work of Max, a solo developer whose side project grew like a snowball

    Sledding Game is the first work created by Max, a solo developer from the United States. Starting as a simple side project, the game grew like a snowball through social media and communities, and the process of documenting its development journey on YouTube, TikTok, and Instagram to achieve millions of views became the driving force behind the game’s growth.

    Community engagement is one of the most critical core elements of this project. The exceptional achievement of being selected for Xbox Game Pass Day One is also considered an unprecedented case for a solo indie developer. Developer Max expressed his future aspirations, stating, “Since this project started with the suggestions and support of the community from the beginning, I will continue to maintain that direction.”
