From Trash Tier to Hero: Windows 98-Style Sim ‘Trust Me, I Nailed It’ Launches Feb 6

    By Editorial Team2026년 01월 29일3 Mins Read
    • The Ultimate “Fake It ‘Til You Make It”: Turn an incompetent hero into a legend through the power of video editing.
    • Retro Aesthetic: Fully immersive Windows 98-style desktop interface.
    • Free-to-Play: Officially launching on Steam on February 6, 2026.

The indie world is about to get a lesson in the art of the “fake clear.” Team Afternoon has announced their upcoming strategy-puzzle title, ‘Trust Me, I Nailed It’ (Korean title: 저 못 믿으세요?), will be available for free on Steam next week. Published by Jungle Game Lab, the game puts you in the chair of a specialized editor who must gaslight the entire world into believing a clumsy warrior is actually a god-tier savior.

    The Task: Editing the Impossible

The game centers on a hilarious, satirical premise: a “hero” has failed miserably in a dungeon crawl, but he needs the world to think he conquered it. As his editor, you receive his raw, messy footage via email and must piece together a “Fake Clear Video” that hides his blunders and highlights his non-existent skills.

    The Mechanics: The 8-Tick Timeline

Success in Trust Me, I Nailed It isn’t about fast reflexes; it’s about precise timing.

    • Clip Management: You are provided with four types of raw clips: Move, Melee Attack, Ranged Attack, and Defense.
    • 8-Tick Editing: You must analyze the enemy’s attack patterns and place these clips into an 8-tick timeline to create a seamless, “perfect” encounter.
    • Post-Processing (VFX): Once the clips are in place, you can apply visual effects to turn a near-miss into a “calculated dodge” or a weak hit into a “critical strike.”
    • Optimization: Achieving specific goals, such as “No Damage Clear” or “Double Valid Hits,” will increase your available memory, allowing for more complex edits in later stages.

A Satirical Tale of Two Realities

The game leans heavily into its retro Windows 98 aesthetic. Your entire gameplay experience takes place on a virtual desktop, complete with a clunky email client and news pop-ups.

The narrative depth comes from the stark contrast between the “Truth” (the chaotic raw footage and the hero’s arrogant emails) and the “Legend” (the polished news articles and public praise you see on the desktop). It’s a witty critique of social media curation and the “heroic” narratives we consume daily.
