As a result of the final audition of the ’19th Gyeonggi Game Audition’ held by Gyeonggi Province at Play Expo on the 25th, Egg Tart Co., Ltd.’s ‘Metal Suits’ was selected.
‘Metal Suit’, which won the prize money of 50 million won, is a PC/console/mobile (select)-based action/casual/deck-building (select) genre game. The judges announced that they selected the company because it reinterpreted retro games with high quality and created a high-quality project.
‘Shape of Dream’ and ‘Over the Horizon’ took second place, each winning 30 million in prize money, while ‘Sephiria’ and ‘Greytail’ were selected in third place. The special award, STOVE INDIE’s PICK, prepared by Stove Indie, a platform specializing in indie games, went to Lizard Smoothie’s ‘Shape of Dream’.
The Gyeonggi Game Audition, which targets unreleased games in Korea, is the largest in the country. It won a total prize of 200 million. The first-place prize money was increased to 50 million won, and word of mouth spread as a star game. A total of 230 games applied, double the number of last year. In addition, benefits such as receiving prize money for all of the TOP 10, support for follow-up development, and support for various partner services were added.
The final ranking of the Top Ten Games was determined through a final audition that included document screening, first audition, and speed dating (judges move from team to team and evaluate them over a given period). Twenty professional judges and 100 audience members participated in the evaluation, including game publishing, investment, and experts from NHN, Neowiz, Smilegate, and Kakao Ventures, as well as developers from large game companies and YouTubers specializing in-game analysis. Participants expressed satisfaction in receiving fairer evaluations thanks to the introduction of an audience evaluation panel and because it was an opportunity to promote the game before its release.

In addition, the partner link service expanded to 11 companies, including Stove Indie, Mobile Index Game, and App Sealing, and additional points for companies residing in the Gyeonggi Global Game Center are benefits that apply to all award-winning companies.
Kim Tae-geun, head of the Gyeonggi Province Digital Innovation Department, said, “As the competition rate was particularly high this year, it was not surprising which game took first place. “Many high-level games participated,” he said. He also said, “I hope this audition will grow into a game representing Korea and that the audience evaluation team and visitors to the Gyeonggi Game Audition exhibition hall will also have a good time.”
