K-Indie Games Gain the Roots for Global Expansion… ‘2026 Connect Fair Export Consultation’ Successfully Concludes

    By Editorial Team2026년 09월 15일3 Mins Read
    • Approximately 40 domestic and international investors and publishers, and about 90 domestic indie game developers participated.
    • Over 240 meeting requests and connections… Global partners from Japan, China, the US, Vietnam, Thailand, and others give favorable reviews to ‘K-Indie Games’

Seongnam City (Mayor Shin Sang-jin), Seongnam Industry Promotion Agency (President Lee Ju-yeon), and the Korea Mobile Game Association (President Hwang Seong-ik) announced on the 11th that the ‘2026 Connect Fair – K-Game Export Consultation Meeting,’ held at the Gravity Chosun Seoul Pangyo Autograph Collection Space Ballroom, concluded with great success.

This export consultation meeting was held as part of the indie game festival ‘2026 Indiecraft,’ hosted by Seongnam City (Mayor Shin Sang-jin) and co-organized by the Seongnam Industry Promotion Agency (Director Lee Ju-yeon) and the Korea Mobile Game Association (President Hwang Seong-ik).

In particular, this year, Indiecraft collaborated with Seongnam City’s largest game culture festival, ‘GXG 2026’ (September 11–12, around Pangyo Station), to present an offline exhibition, providing a platform to introduce K-indie games to citizens and game industry professionals visiting the festival.

Despite being the first export consultation held under the name of Indiecraft, it proceeded with a highly positive response from both the developers and partner companies.

44 partner companies, including domestic and foreign investors and publishers, and about 82 domestic indie game developers participated, and there were approximately 240 requests for meetings and connections through the pre-matching system.

With over 30 consultation tables filled, 1:1 business meetings held every 30 minutes continued uninterrupted throughout the day, establishing itself as a true venue for large-scale business networking.

Domestically, major game companies such as NC, Nexon, Netmarble, Kakao Games, and Com2uS participated as partners, while overseas participants included Japan’s Cygames, indie game publisher Phoenixx, Singaporean mobile game publisher Habby known for ‘Archero’, China’s game distribution platform TapTap, Taiwan’s game developer and publisher Softstar Entertainment Inc., Vietnam’s game publisher GAMOTA, and Spain’s indie game developer DALOAR Studios, who interacted with domestic indie game developers.

An official from an overseas partner company said, “It was meaningful to be able to meet excellent Korean indie games in person,” adding, “I would like to have more discussions with the developers to connect good opportunities both culturally and commercially.”

The response from domestic indie game developers who participated in the meeting was also enthusiastic.

A representative from a participating development company shared their thoughts, stating, “It was very helpful to be able to meet good partner companies in one place at the right time as we prepare for overseas expansion,” and added, “I hope events like this are held frequently in the future to provide tangible opportunities for indie developers.”

After the consultation session concluded, an after-party hosted in collaboration with Microsoft followed, allowing networking between domestic and international participants to continue until nightfall.

Lee Ju-yeon, President of the Seongnam Industry Promotion Agency, stated, “The fact that Connect Fair, held for the first time this year, achieved such scale and results is proof of the significant global market interest in K-indie games. The Seongnam Industry Promotion Agency will not be complacent with this achievement and will continue to devise multifaceted support measures to ensure that indie developers can sustainably grow on the global stage.”

Hwang Seong-ik, Chairman and Co-organizer of Indiecraft, stated, “This Connect Fair was a valuable opportunity for outstanding Korean indie and small-to-medium-sized game developers to meet directly with global partners,” adding, “The Association will continue to provide unsparing support for the global expansion and success of K-indie games.”
