Global indie game publisher Devolver Digital announced that it has released “The Naturalist,” the final free update for the brick-breaking roguelite “BALL x PIT” developed by Kenny Sun, on all platforms.
This update was released to commemorate the game surpassing 2 million cumulative sales. It features the addition of various content, including new characters, balls, and passive items, which further expands the range of builds and strategic depth.
There are a total of two newly added characters. ‘Ball Carrier’ is an attack-specialized character that achieves overwhelming firepower by doubling the ball slots in exchange for giving up all passive item slots.
On the other hand, ‘White-haired Collector’ has only two ball slots, but its passive slots are doubled, allowing for the operation of a build centered on powerful item combinations and evolution.
A total of 11 new balls have also been added. ‘Lightning Worm’ summons fireflies with every bounce to track the strongest enemy and deals lightning damage to nearby enemies. ‘Drill’ penetrates enemies and deals additional damage, while ‘Armageddon’ summons a massive meteor shower from the sky the moment it hits an enemy, devastating the battlefield.
Along with this, five new passive abilities have been added that significantly change the game’s play style. ‘Platinum Dumbbell’ provides an effect that increases damage until the ball hits the back wall, while ‘Hideous Hammer’ causes a ball that hits a wall or the back of the arena to immediately deal additional damage to a random enemy. Various new passive abilities, such as ‘Remote Detonation’ which causes a downed enemy to generate an explosive bomb ball to trigger a chain explosion, further enhance the game’s strategic depth.
‘Naturalist’ is the final content of the free DLC trilogy following the previously released ‘Throne’ and ‘Shadow’ updates. However, the developers announced that this update is not the end of content support and that they plan to reveal new news regarding ‘Ball x Fit’ soon.
Meanwhile, ‘Ball x Fit’ supports Korean and can be played on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, and mobile platforms.
