‘BIC Festival 2022’, the best performance ever and the final closing

    By Editorial Team2022년 10월 06일3 Mins Read

The Busan Indie Connect Festival Organizing Committee announced that ‘Busan Indie Connect Festival 2022 (hereinafter referred to as BIC Festival 2022)’ came to an end with the online festival that ended on September 30th.

The BIC Festival 2022, which was held at the Busan Port International Exhibition and Convention Center from September 1 to 4, followed the online festival held together on the official website on September 30, ending a long journey.

This year’s BIC Festival showed a total of 162 works, the largest number ever, and drew enthusiastic responses throughout the event period. Starting with the Demo Day held in August, a total of 679,658 people from 68 countries participated online and offline, achieving 3,915,435 views, recording the highest number ever, a remarkable achievement.

In particular, in the case of an online festival, it was intended to provide a place for active exchanges between gamers, developers, and industry-related people while enjoying games more leisurely, and various feedbacks came and went after the offline festival, serving as a global communication channel.

In addition, during the online festival period, only ticket purchasers were provided with a replay of the conference held for two days from September 1st to 2nd, making the event even more enriching. The conference is currently fully open and anyone can use it in Korean and English versions through BIC’s official YouTube channel and official website.

In addition, the BIC Organizing Committee announced various support for BIC Festival exhibitors to revitalize the indie game industry in the future. As a first step, it will participate in ‘G-Star 2022’ to be held in November and provide an exhibition opportunity to developers selected for this year’s BIC Festival.

The final list of selected developers and related details will be announced at a later date. In addition, the promotion of BIC selected works through the exclusive Twitch of ‘John’, a virtual influencer of the BIC Festival that started this year, and ‘John Indie’, a YouTube channel, is also continuing.

Tae-Gon Seo, Chairman of the BIC Organizing Committee, said, “This year’s BIC Festival feels new as it was held as a true ‘BIC’ that ‘connects’ gamers, developers, and stakeholders around the world who love indie games both online and offline. We pay our respects to the developers and each work, and we are considering various ways to create an event where all developers can be more satisfied and shine in the future.”

He added, “Please look forward to BIC Festival 2023, which will come back with a new look in order to increase its authority as a representative global indie game event.”
