The number of mobile game users in Korea has fallen by 2.7 million over the past year.
According to the Mobile Index on the 28th, the total number of monthly mobile game users (MAU) was 22.9 million last month. This is a decrease of 10.6% from the 25.6 million recorded in the same month of the previous year.
The increase in the number of users by game category recorded the largest drop in the role-playing genre with 25.9%. Next, the number of users decreased in the order of action games (21.7%) and simulation games (19%).

Looking at the monthly sales trend of all mobile games, sales increased significantly after the launch of ‘Odin’ by Kakao Games and ‘Lineage W’ by NCsoft over the past year, and role-playing games accounted for 67.3% of the transaction amount of mobile games by genre. .
In the domestic mobile game market, NCsoft had the highest market share with 18.7%. It was followed by Nexon (13.9%), Kakao Games (6.7%), and Netmarble (5.2%). NCsoft’s ‘Lineage W’ ranked first in domestic game sales for seven consecutive months based on Google Play.
The company that produced the most popular games is Netmarble. Last month, Netmarble had the highest number of games that entered the top 100 by revenue based on Google Play, One Store, and App Store combined, with 12. Next was Nexon with 9, NCsoft with 7, and Webzen with 5.
