Incheon Metropolitan City will roll up its arms to nurture talents in the game industry and hold various events through public-private cooperation and its own business.
The city of Incheon announced on the 10th that it will sign a memorandum of understanding on the ‘Game Industry Promotion Business Agreement’ with Krafton, a domestic game developer famous for ‘Battle Ground’ on the 15th, and cooperate with Krafton’s major events in Incheon and nurturing game industry manpower. .
The main content of this MOU is to establish a mutual cooperation system, such as holding an international event hosted by Krafton in Incheon for 3 years (2021-2023) and providing administrative support to Incheon City. The ‘PUBG Global Championship (PGC)’, the strongest ground global e-sports match, will be held at Paradise City in Yeongjongdo, Incheon.
At the same time, Krafton decided to seek ways to activate public-private exchanges such as the completion of game industry education for Incheon citizens through the support of the game specialist training center operated by Krafton.
In addition, Incheon City is promoting the game industry talent nurturing project on its own. From the 15th, Incheon city will hold the ‘Incheon Indie Game Academy’ to train game development manpower for 50 young people, including local college students and job-seeking students, for a month from the 15th.
The program focuses on game production and development-related content, and experts in game sound/scenario/development/direction/planning and public relations give lectures and serve as mentors for participants. Participants will also participate in the activity of creating a prototype-level game within a set time frame.
An official from Incheon City expressed his ambition to build a regional game industry ecosystem using this business agreement as a stepping stone, and to take the lead in creating jobs for youth in the region, paying attention to the fact that there is a lot of demand for jobs and start-ups related to the game industry.
