Gyeonggi-do, e-sports festival and Play Expo linked

    By Editorial Team2022년 05월 02일3 Mins Read
    • Gyeonggi-do, ‘Gyeonggi e-Sports Festival’ held at KINTEX from May 12 to 15
    • It consists of various events such as disabled/university student e-sports competitions, influencer events, and game experiences.
    • All matches are broadcast live through the official Twitch channel and the Gyeonggi Content Agency YouTube

Gyeonggi-do and Gyeonggi Content Agency will hold the ‘Gyeonggi e-Sports Festival’ to expand the base of e-sports at the 2nd exhibition hall of Kintex, Goyang, for 4 days from the 12th to the 15th.

The ‘Gyeonggi e-Sports Festival’ is a venue for local residents to enjoy e-sports culture. This festival, which is held in conjunction with ‘PlayX4’, consists of various events such as an e-sports competition for the disabled, an influencer Invitational (invitation of celebrities), and a campus competition.

All events will be held on the special stage of the e-sports festival in the Play Expo B2C exhibition hall. In addition, during the festival period, various events will be held in which visitors directly participate.

First of all, with the opening ceremony on the 12th, the ‘e-sports competition for the disabled’ will be held for the culturally vulnerable. Participation in this event is divided according to the type of disability. ‘Kart Rider Rush Plus’, which anyone can easily understand and enjoy for the intellectually disabled, and ‘FIFA Online 4’, which is popular with the physically and hearing impaired, will be held. The organizers of the competition plan to operate a variety of convenience facilities for participants, including a stage slope for wheelchairs.

On the 13th and 15th, the ‘Campus Competition’ finals will be held to determine the strongest e-sports players in the metropolitan area university. The final round is a place where the winners will be decided between the participants who have gone through the university selection and online qualifiers. Campus competitions are divided into team events and individual events. First, among individual events, ‘FIFA Online 4’ is a tournament, and ‘Eternal Returns’ is a round score. Afterwards, the team event ‘League of Legends’ will be held as a tournament.

On the 14th, the ‘Influencer Invitational (celebrity invitation game)’ in which famous streamers and pro gamers participate will be held. This short-term tournament consists of a variety of attractions, from famous game BJ events to the battle between retired pro gamers and the contestants on campus.

Meanwhile, you can participate in the Gyeonggi eSports Festival online. All matches during the festival will be broadcast live through the Gyeonggi e-Sports Festival official Twitch channel and the Gyeonggi Content Agency YouTube.

Gwang-Yeol Ryu, head of Gyeonggi-do’s economy department, said, “I hope that more residents can enjoy the game culture through the Gyeonggi e-Sports Festival.”

For more information, please refer to the Gyeonggi e-Sports Festival website (http://ggef.or.kr) or contact the operation secretariat (02-6959-2570).
