- Greek solo developer’s debut work, a psychological horror adventure dealing with loss and memory
- Exploring a dream village to find a missing wife… Delivering horror through puzzles and story, without combat
Greek indie publisher Dionous Games and developer X Interactive officially released the “Last Dream Update,” a free major update for their first-person psychological horror adventure game “Inner Voice,” on Steam on October 29.
The recently applied ‘Last Dream’ update focused on further enhancing the game’s horror elements and immersion by adding two new puzzles and over 10 horror sequences. In addition, overall convenience improvements were also made to make the game more enjoyable.
‘Inner Voice’, developed by Greek solo developer Nick Chronopoulos, tells the desperate story of a man who explores the bizarrely decayed dream village of ‘Brightstone’ in search of traces of his missing wife.
In particular, it is receiving favorable reviews from users for its sensory portrayal of fundamental human fears, sense of loss, and fragmented memories through sophisticated puzzle-solving and environmental exploration alone, without any direct combat elements with monsters.

To Brightstone to find my missing wife
‘Inner Voice’ features a deep narrative characterized by the protagonist’s journey to find his missing wife and an ending that changes depending on the player’s choices.
The player begins the story as Booker, the protagonist who sets foot in the bizarre dreamlike village of Brightstone in search of traces of his missing wife, Diana. In this village, where the flow of time and reason seem to have been paralyzed, a mysterious voice of unknown identity appears, guiding Booker while simultaneously tormenting him incessantly.
The protagonist, Booker, must wander alone through the desolate village collecting traces and clues from the past, without weapons to defend himself or companions to accompany him. In particular, the choices the player makes at every moment influence the flow of the story, leading to a total of four different endings, including three standard endings and a hidden secret ending.

Update promises even more intense horror and immersion
The ‘Last Dream’ update applied this time has further enriched the core fun of the game, exploration and puzzle-solving elements, by adding two new novel puzzles.
Along with this, more than 10 horror effects designed to psychologically pressure players have been added throughout the game, and overall convenience improvements have also been made to facilitate a pleasant gameplay experience.
Developer Nick Chronopoulos commented, “The darkness of Brightstone has become even deeper than before.” He further heightened global fans’ expectations by explaining, “This is the result of intense work to deliver ‘maximized horror’ that is more immersive and psychologically deeply unsettling.”

A dark world mixing Victorian style and Westerns
‘Inner Voice’ creates a unique visual sense of unease by setting itself against a backdrop of ruins where Victorian architecture and the atmosphere of a desolate Western are strangely intertwined.
The bizarre mannequins standing alone without saying a word, the lonely traces of the past left in every room, and the unidentified sounds constantly coming from the darkness blocking all sides heighten the psychological pressure on the player.
The game is densely structured into a total of four chapters, naturally combining a linear story progression that follows a clear line with free exploration elements where the user directly investigates the surroundings.
In addition, full voice acting and an original soundtrack (OST) are provided to enhance vivid immersion, and it boasts realistic graphics and direction as it was created with the Unreal Engine.

Greek solo developer Nick Chronopoulos’s debut work
‘Inner Voice’ is a meaningful debut title presented by solo developer Nick (Nikos) Chronopoulos as he takes his first steps into the game market. Chronopoulos, who runs the development studio ‘X Interactive’, took charge of the overall game development alone, while global publishing was handled by ‘Dionous Games’, a distributor specializing in indie games, to provide support.
According to the official developer notes posted on the Steam page, since ‘Inner Voice’ was completed as a pure one-person development project, players are encouraged to take their time exploring every corner of Brightstone Village and enjoy the game in depth without ever rushing.

Positive reviews from both the media and the community have continued since the launch.
‘Inner Voice’ has been receiving consistently positive feedback from users since its official release on April 30, 2026. Currently, out of 13 user reviews registered on Steam, a whopping 92% have left positive comments, and 7 curators have posted reviews, proving the game’s quality.
Currently, this game is available for purchase on major global platforms including PC Steam, GOG, and the Epic Games Store, and the newly applied ‘Last Dream’ update is provided to existing Steam users for free.

‘Inner Voice’ is a psychological horror adventure game that densely unravels human ‘loss’ through deep exploration, puzzles, and a distinctively unsettling atmosphere, instead of stimulating combat.
With the ‘Last Dream’ update showcasing even richer puzzle elements and intense horror direction, it appears to be a good choice for users seeking a deep, narrative-driven horror game.
However, as the game deals with somewhat heavy and mature themes such as self-harm scenes and psychological distress, it is recommended to check the content guide on the Steam page before playing.
