Creature collectors reward you for catching everything. Extraction games punish you for being greedy. Amiko Legends tries to put both instincts in the same run. Developer Aurory released a free Steam demo on October 7 for its creature-collecting extraction RPG, which it pitches as “Pokémon meets ARC Raiders.”
Players capture wild creatures called Amiko, recruit them as companions, and explore an unknown world. To keep the loot gathered along the way, you have to extract safely. The core decision is whether to push on for more resources or head back before the risk gets too high.
The demo arrives ahead of Steam Next Fest and offers a hands-on look at the main gameplay before release.
Catch, Collect, and Get Out Alive
The game is set in a world called Okima. Players form a team of Amiko, set out to explore, capture wild creatures, and gather rare resources. The more loot you collect, the greater the danger, which makes timing your extraction crucial.
Loot is only kept if you escape safely. You can venture into deeper areas for bigger rewards, but failing to extract means losing what you collected. The structure layers extraction-genre tension on top of creature collecting and raising.
The world also responds to what players do. According to the developer, Amiko populations shift, and the ecosystem reacts based on players’ actions, and new discoveries emerge across repeated expeditions. The idea is to keep repeat runs varied by tying player choices to changes in the world.
Building a Team Around Each Amiko’s Traits
Each Amiko has its own personality and innate talents. Because abilities in combat depend on each creature’s traits, element, and star rating, teams need to be built around the goal and environment of each expedition.
Players refine their strategy as they collect and combine Amiko that suit their style, choosing creatures suited to a given environment or reshuffling the team to take on a powerful enemy.
Steam tags include creature collector, turn-based combat, JRPG, party-based RPG, exploration, PvE, and PvP. German outlet Chainsaw Gaming also highlighted tactical turn-based combat as a key feature.
Aurory, and an Open Question About Blockchain
Aurory is a team of artists, developers, and designers. Its stated direction is to create memorable characters and worlds and to deliver polished experiences built around gameplay.
Aurory has released Amiko-related games before. A game with the same name is listed on the Epic Games Store as an Early Access title, and that listing includes notices about blockchain and NFTs, along with account-creation text tied to linking a Solana wallet.
The Amiko Legends presented through the Steam demo, however, is described in terms of creature collecting and extraction. No separate notice about blockchain or NFT features could be found on the current Steam page or in the related announcement materials. The exact relationship between the earlier release and this Steam version, and whether any such features apply, still needs to be confirmed.
International Coverage
The demo announcement drew attention from international outlets.
Insider Gaming said the game is worth a look for players who have wondered what an ARC Raiders and Pokémon combination might look like. It was particularly interested in the growth loop: the more Amiko you bring home from successful extractions, the stronger your team becomes for later runs.
German outlet PlayCentral, covering the Steam page reveal earlier, called it an unusual attempt to combine the fun of creature collecting with the tension of extraction. It also noted the premise that player actions have long-term effects on the world and its ecosystem.
Aurory plans to launch Amiko Legends in Steam Early Access in 2026. Chainsaw Gaming reported the Early Access launch as late 2026, but the Steam store page does not show a confirmed date, so further confirmation is needed.
The Steam page currently lists English as the supported language. The free demo lets players try creature collecting, turn-based combat, and extraction-focused exploration ahead of release.

Who This Is For
Strong fit for: creature-collector fans curious about higher stakes; extraction-game players who want turn-based tactics instead of shooting; JRPG and party-RPG players who enjoy team-building around traits and elements; anyone interested in a world that shifts based on player activity.
Cautious fit for: players wary of blockchain or NFT elements, given that Aurory’s earlier Amiko release on the Epic Games Store includes such notices and the Steam version’s relationship to it has not been clarified; non-English speakers, as only English is listed; anyone who needs a firm Early Access date.
Less ideal for: players who dislike losing progress or loot on failure; those who prefer a pure single-player creature-collecting journey without PvP elements.
The Takeaway
Amiko Legends has a sharp elevator pitch, and the extraction loop gives creature collecting something it rarely has: real risk. The tactical turn-based combat and reactive ecosystem add depth on paper. The open question is what connection, if any, this Steam version has to the blockchain-linked game of the same name on Epic. Until Aurory clarifies that, the free demo is the best way to judge the game on its own terms.
Free demo on Steam now. Early Access: 2026 (date TBA on Steam).
