- A retro fantasy action RPG about finding a missing father on the labyrinthine Nesid Islands.
- Steam Wishlist Surpasses 180,000… Switch 2, Xbox Series, and PS5 Versions Released Simultaneously
Queen’s Domain, a FromSoftware-style retro fantasy action RPG, will launch simultaneously on global PC and console platforms on October 30.
Future Friends Games, the distributor of the game, announced that the title will be released on Steam as well as on Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5 (PS5) on the same day.
When it was first revealed, ‘Queens Domain’ caught the attention of gamers as a first-person retro fantasy action RPG. In particular, according to the developer, it is reportedly garnering high expectations in the global market, with the number of Steam wishlists currently surpassing 180,000.
Mysterious Nesid Island, In Search of My Lost Father
After being washed ashore on the mysterious ‘Neasied Island,’ the player embarks on a journey to find their missing father.
Countless secrets are hidden throughout the island, which is encroaching with ominous forces, and even the Queen, who had been slumbering in the abyss, is beginning to awaken. Players must explore the labyrinthine island and uncover the truth hidden in its dark center.
The legendary holy sword ‘Endu’ serves as the game’s core movement system. Players can utilize the sword’s power to move nimbly between platforms as if soaring, and as abilities are upgraded, they can leap further, promising an even more dynamic exploration experience.
Stamina-based action combat and a vast array of weapons
Combat unfolds in an action-centric manner involving the management of a stamina gauge. Players can utilize powerful charge attacks, weapon-specific special attacks, and secondary throwable weapons. There are over 50 types of melee weapons and over 20 types of secondary throwable weapons.
You can strengthen your character by accumulating experience points to level up and equipping accessories. There is also a way to further boost stats using food. Deep within the island, over 100 types of enemies, mid-bosses, and bosses await. The developers stated that the game offers dozens of hours of adventure and exploration.
Developed by Freshly Baked Games, consisting of 2 developers
Queen’s Domain is being created by Freshly Baked Games, an indie development team consisting of two people, Eric and Bradley. The two developers became independent with the goal of making the games they wanted to make, and in the summer of 2025, they released the ambient exploration game The New Flesh.
Publishing will be handled by Future Friends Games, which has released titles such as ‘CloverPit’, ‘Slots & Daggers’, and ‘Exo One’.
Retro-style graphics and atmosphere… Music reviews are mixed
‘Queens Domain’ recreates the feel of classic 3D fantasy games with graphics that utilize low resolution and dithering effects.
PC Gamer particularly praised the exploration and atmosphere, noting that the finely crafted backgrounds and ancient ruins of the tropical island stood out beneath the rough pixelation. Reactions from Steam users who tried the demo were also generally positive regarding the visuals, combat, and music.
Opinions were divided regarding the music. While some argued that it evoked the classic ‘King’s Field’ and suited the game’s atmosphere well, others criticized the composition and sound of the soundtrack for falling short of other elements.
There are also reactions that the combat system takes time to get used to, so the experience may vary depending on whether you prefer the slow combat and exploration of classic first-person action RPGs.

Queen’s Domain, which features the unique sensibility of classic first-person fantasy and the exploration of a labyrinthine island, will be officially released on PC and console platforms on October 30.
The previously released demo version received favorable reviews from users for its distinctive retro graphics and immersive atmosphere. However, as opinions were somewhat mixed regarding the music and combat system, the key to its success is expected to be how much the official version demonstrates improved polish.
Attention is focused on what kind of adventure the veiled secrets of Nesid Island and the diverse weapon system will offer gamers.
