A unique new title is coming that combines the calm feel of a cleaning simulation with the thrilling action of a zombie survival game.
Haz Games, a one-person development studio, officially announced its new game ‘BrainWash: Zombie Cleanup’, which it developed and services, and opened a Steam page.
Haz Games, a one-person development studio, has unveiled ‘BrainWash: Zombie Cleanup,’ which combines cleaning simulation and zombie survival.
The 1950s, just before the end of the zombie apocalypse; this time, dispatched as a ‘field cleaner’
The game is set in the 1950s, when the zombie outbreak is nearing its end. The player takes on the role of a field cleaner hired by the disinfection and cleaning company ‘Raincoat Industries,’ donning a protective suit and being deployed to contaminated areas.
The mission is simple yet bizarre. First, you must pick up a weapon and eliminate the remaining zombies that are still moving. In doing so, the zombies you take down become the very “cleanup work” you have to deal with.
Once the cleanup is complete, it is time to lay down weapons and use mops and high-pressure washers. The ultimate goal is to wipe up the blood covering the floor, gather the debris, and collect the body parts to restore the scene to its pristine state from before the incident.
The developer heightened the tension by adding a chilling premise that “some of the debris that needs to be cleared away might still be alive.”
“You shoot, I wipe!” Cooperative cleaning with a friend
If you successfully complete the job, you receive payment, and with this money, you can purchase more powerful cleaning tools and equipment to take on larger and more chaotic sites.
The game supports not only single-player mode but also online cooperative (Co-op) play. It allows for efficient role division by forming shifts with friends, such as one person hunting zombies while the other cleans up the site in real-time.
Developer Duncan cited ‘Crime Scene Cleaner’ and the ‘Call of Duty’ zombie mode as inspirations for the game. Foreign media outlet GameSpew also expressed anticipation for the unique concept, describing the title as “feeling like Powerwash Simulator with World War Z added.”
A ‘brutal black comedy’ blended with 1950s retro sensibility
‘Brainwash: Zombie Cleanup’ features bright and colorful graphics in a first-person 3D perspective, but beneath the surface, it is full of dark humor and gore.
Steam’s adult content guidelines state that it includes violence and gore against zombies, depictions of dismemberment and corpses, and black comedy regarding death and violence.
Overseas media outlet GameSpew reported that various locations, including hospitals and homes, appear in the footage, and also commented on the depiction of zombie exposure in the released images. According to the media, the developer stated that they would address the issue during the development process.
The minimum PC specifications are Windows 10 or 11, Intel Core i5-8400 or AMD Ryzen 5 2600, 16GB of RAM, and GeForce GTX 1060 6GB or Radeon RX 580 8GB. 35GB of storage space is required. The recommended specifications are Intel Core i7-9700K or AMD Ryzen 7 3700X, and GeForce RTX 2070 or Radeon RX 6700 XT.
