- A cyberpunk life simulation featuring business operations and city exploration
- Released on September 30 after 5 years of development, surpasses 1 million on Steam Wishlist
- Increased by approximately 7 times compared to the predecessor ‘Cloudpunk’… PC version scheduled for release on September 30.
Global publisher 505 Games and Berlin-based indie developer ION LANDS announced that the Steam wishlist for their new cyberpunk life simulation game , ‘Nivalis Nights,’ has surpassed 1 million.
‘Nivalis Knight’ is a game that shares the same worldview as the critically acclaimed predecessor ‘Cloudpunk’ , and is characterized by combining a cozy life simulation with a deep cyberpunk worldview.
Players can create their own lives by starting a small business in a neon-lit futuristic city and growing it into a large-scale enterprise.
The game is scheduled to be officially released on PC via Steam on September 30th, Korean time.
A cyberpunk life simulation returns to the cloudpunk city of Nivalis
‘Nivalis’ Knight’ is set once again in the city of Nivalis, which appeared in IonLand’s previous work, ‘Cloudpunk’, released in 2020. ‘Cloudpunk’ was a title that garnered attention for its distinctive voxel graphics visuals and narrative-driven progression.
While the previous game was a narrative adventure that uncovered events surrounding corporate conspiracies, hackers, and runaway AI from the perspective of the protagonist Rania, ‘Nivalis Knight’ shifted direction into a life simulation where you create your own daily life in the city together with Ava.
Players can experience the fun of management by starting with a small ramen bar or nightclub and growing it into a massive business that captures the attention of the entire city. Alternatively, it is also possible to explore bustling waterfront areas and hidden alleys to build relationships with residents, or to enjoy a leisurely life fishing and decorating in a sanctuary above the clouds.
The new game ‘Nivalis’ is characterized by capturing the appeal of both extremes: a fierce success story and a peaceful daily life.
A city explored on foot and by boat, from business operations to home decorating
The main content of the game consists of city exploration, business operations, resource management, decorating living spaces, and interaction with residents.
Players can freely explore the cyberpunk city built on the sea on foot or by boat. They will experience daily life in Nivalis while exploring various areas, including canals, alleyways, and vibrant squares.
In terms of business operations, you can start with a small ramen bar or pub and expand into a popular restaurant or club. Resource management elements are also provided, such as purchasing ingredients at the market, growing them yourself, or securing food supplies through fishing.
You can decorate your living space to suit your taste, and it is also possible to purchase a dream house that captures the atmosphere of a neon-lit futuristic city and customize it freely.
Building relationships with residents is also a key element of the game. You can converse with various characters to form friendships with regular customers, and it is even possible to develop these relationships into romantic ones.
A wishlist 7 times bigger than the predecessor, 5 years of development
Ionland Creative Director Marco Dickmann described the milestone of surpassing 1 million wishlist items as “a dream-like achievement that we never expected.”
He explained that there were approximately 130,000 items on the wishlist at the time of the release of the previous game, ‘Cloudpunk,’ and that he considered it a significant achievement even then. He went on to express his gratitude to the fans and added that he would do his best in development to live up to their expectations.
‘Nivalis Knight’ was first revealed in 2021 under the name ‘Nivalis’. After approximately five years of development, the current official name and release date have been finalized, and as an independent studio, the game’s quality has been enhanced despite facing various challenges during the development process.
The anticipation shown by 1 million wishlists, and future platform expansion plans.
Achieving 1 million wishlist items is approximately seven times the figure of the previous title, ‘Cloudpunk,’ which had about 130,000. As it has garnered significant interest even before its release, attention is now focused on what kind of reaction it will elicit after its official launch.
‘Nivalis’ will be released on PC via Steam on September 30, and the Epic Games Store version will be announced at a later date.
More information about the game can be found on the Steam and Epic Games Store pages, as well as on the official X, Instagram, and Discord channels.
