Find the forbidden truth inside the cell phone… ‘Don’t Pick Up’ released

    By Editorial Team2026년 09월 16일4 Mins Read
    • The debut title from the 6-member new studio Quarter Games, a psychological horror set under government control.
    • A first-person narrative adventure where you run a government-certified repair shop and track down factions and conspiracies

Clover Bite, known as the publisher of the Metroidvania series ‘Grime’ and ‘Grime II’, announced that it will release a free demo of its new psychological horror game ‘Don’t Pick Up’ on September 24.

‘Don’t Pick Up’ is the debut title of Quarter Games, a new six-person development studio. It is a narrative-driven psychological horror game set in an alternate history dystopia of the early 2000s, where the story unfolds as you run a mobile phone repair shop.

The official version is scheduled to be released on PC (Steam), but the specific release date has not yet been announced.

The Forbidden Truth Faced at Government-Authorized Repair Shops

The player runs a government-approved mobile phone and telecommunications repair shop in a dystopian alternate history of the 2000s.

The problem is that government policies and regulations change every day. Depending on the new guidelines issued daily, not only the types of equipment that can be repaired and the parts available, but even the customers that a shop can serve change.

During the process of examining a mobile phone entrusted by a customer for repair, information related to the political turmoil occurring in the outside world is discovered. This is how various factions, conspiracies, and the relationships between figures are revealed through the records left within the device.

Based on the information gathered, the player must decide who to help, what to report, and what to hide. Each choice affects the progression and ending of the story, and the player must personally bear the consequences of those choices.

First-person horror pressuring you with choices amidst daily-changing government guidelines.

The game is a psychological horror genre played from a first-person perspective. The basic gameplay structure involves running a repair shop while checking and complying with new government guidelines delivered every morning.

You must repair the device of a customer knocking on your door, but you have no way of knowing what you will discover inside. Even if the information is related to the truth the government is trying to conceal, how to handle it depends entirely on the player’s choices.

The situation outside the shop is also gradually changing. In the city visible through the window, the political crisis intensifies day by day, and the player faces the changes unfolding outside while maintaining their daily life inside the repair shop.

Debut work by a fledgling 6-person studio, sponsored by a publisher supporting a student development team

Quarter Games, the developer, is a six-person indie game studio established this year. They aim to create works that combine a dark worldview with unique gameplay, and this new title, ‘Don’t Pick Up,’ is the studio’s debut game.

Publisher Clover Bite is known to have discovered and published games created by emerging development teams and student developers in partnership with the Tiltan School of Design and Visual Communication.

‘Don’t Pick Up’ is a psychological horror game that combines political intrigue and moral choices hidden behind the seemingly ordinary job of a government-certified repairman, featuring unique gameplay that requires a balance between conformity and resistance amidst daily changing regulations.

With the fact that it is the debut work of a 6-person studio and the support from the publisher of the ‘Grime’ series, attention is focused on what kind of reaction the free demo to be released on September 24 will elicit.
