Changjo Gongjakso Successfully Concludes Korea’s First ‘AI Game Sound Design Challenge’

    • Music, sound effects, and voice produced by AI… 10 finalists compete
    • Confirmation of the possibility of AI-based game sound production by adding creator’s editing and mixing
    • Awards Ceremony Held as Official GXG 2026 Program… 12 Game Companies and 15 IPs Participate

Changjo Gongjakso, a company specializing in game sound, announced that it held the awards ceremony for the “1st AI Game Sound Design Challenge with GXG 2026 (AI GSDC)” at the game culture festival “GXG 2026,” which took place on the 12th in the area of Pangyo Station Plaza in Seongnam, Gyeonggi Province.

‘AI GSDC’ is Korea’s first AI game sound competition that creates new background music (BGM), sound effects (SFX), and voice using the AI game sound production platform ‘Gamesound.ai’ for silent game videos. It was hosted by Changjo Gongjakso and co-organized by Audia and Lykers.

This competition was held under the sponsorship of GXG 2026, Com2uS Platform, Microsoft, Morisawa Korea, and the Korea Mobile Game Association. Morisawa Korea CEO Kim Jong-hyuk, Com2uS Platform Director Lee Ru-da, and Changjo Gongjakso CEO Shin So-heon attended as presenters to award the winners.

For the competition, 12 game companies, including Com2uS, Haegin, AK Interactive, Endrim, Blue Potion Games, Story Taco, Tri-Pulse Games, Dream Motion, Red Ginkgo Games, Hypercent, Bird Letter, and Ubis, provided videos of a total of 15 game IPs.

Participants reinterpreted each game with their own unique sound by generating, editing, and mixing sound effects, music, and voice using Gamesound.ai, while restricting the use of external audio sources and samples. Ten entries that passed the preliminary evaluation by professional judges advanced to the finals, and the final winners were selected by combining user web voting and judge evaluations.

The Gold Prize was awarded to the team ‘OVERTAKE,’ who reinterpreted ‘World War Machines: Conquest.’ OVERTAKE harmoniously combined majestic background music, combat sound effects, and voiceovers to capture the chaos and tension of the battlefield.

The Silver Award (Hive Award) was won by ‘Iroi’ for ‘Backroom Cleaners’. The Bronze Awards were given to ‘Wasureteita’ for ‘Backroom’ and ‘DCTL’ for ‘Dragon Rider’. The Popularity Award went to ‘team ohah’ for ‘EOS BLACK’ and Jung Ha-yoon for ‘My Little Puppy’.

The gold medal winning team was awarded 3 million won in cash, 1 million won in Hive credits, and a one-year subscription to Gamesound AI Ultra. Silver medal winners received 1 million won in cash, and bronze medal winners each received 500,000 won in cash, along with various other benefits such as Hive credits and Gamesound.ai subscriptions.

“Through these entries, we confirmed the potential for Gamesound.ai to be utilized in actual game sound production and that the creator’s editing and mixing capabilities determine the quality of the work,” said Shin So-heon, CEO of Changjo Gongjakso. “While AI lowers the production burden and enables various attempts, it is the creator’s job to refine the generated sound to fit the game and breathe life into it.”

He continued, “Game music is a field where musicians of diverse styles can participate because it is based on a free worldview and is not biased toward specific genres or trends,” adding, “Just as the game industry has grown, game audio and music also have a high potential to grow into a cultural industry.”

The videos and sounds of the 10 finalists, including the winning entries, can be viewed on the official AI GSDC website.
