Red Wire Preview: Polish Studio Makes Your Voice the Only Bomb-Defusal Tool — Comedy Co-op Where Miscommunication Is the Point

    By Editorial Team2026년 09월 12일5 Mins Read

A city. An unidentified supervillain. Bombs scattered across it, each with a limited timer, each requiring two matching wires cut from an electrical panel to disarm. Sun Storm Studio’s Red Wire takes the established co-op bomb-defusal formula and strips out every tool except the one that actually matters: what you can describe to a teammate who is standing somewhere you are not.

    The Distributed-Information Puzzle

The core design problem Red Wire sets up is deceptively simple to state and genuinely difficult to solve under pressure: each level scatters more electrical panels across the city than there are players, so no single person can survey the whole situation. Wire markings aren’t consistent between panels — some are obscured behind question marks, and matching pairs are frequently split across panels in entirely different locations. A player standing at one panel has to describe what they’re seeing precisely enough that a teammate standing at a different panel, looking at different wires, can identify the actual match — verbally, in real time, with an explosion as the penalty for guessing wrong.

This is a meaningfully different design than the Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes lineage it’s obviously in conversation with. That game splits information between a bomb-holder and a manual-reader — two fixed, asymmetric roles. Red Wire instead distributes the same kind of information problem across a shared physical space that all players occupy and move through simultaneously, which means the coordination problem includes physical navigation (finding panels, moving between them, deciding who checks what) on top of the verbal cross-referencing itself. Voice chat isn’t a support feature here — it’s the described core mechanic the entire puzzle is engineered around, forcing players to depend on.

Failure resets rather than punishes: a wrong cut ends the round, but the team can simply try again, with the explicit design intent that repeated attempts are how a group’s communication actually improves — the same round becoming easier not because the puzzle changed but because the team’s shared vocabulary and roles have sharpened.

    The Comedy Register

Sun Storm Studio has made a specific and consequential tonal choice: nobody is actually hurt when a bomb goes off. This single design decision is what lets Red Wire commit fully to comedy rather than tension-as-primary-experience — failure is a punchline, not a loss condition players need to dread. Matches run in the few-minutes-to-roughly-ten-minute range, structured explicitly for repeated short sessions with friends rather than one long sustained campaign.

Environmental humor extends this throughout: city pedestrians who block routes can simply be shoved aside with street signs, one of several small interactive gags the developers have built into the traversal layer specifically to generate chaos and laughter alongside the core defusal tension. The design intent, stated directly by the studio, is that the frantic, breathless information exchange under time pressure should reliably produce unplanned, funny moments rather than pure stress.

The Honest State of the Announcement

This is a very early-stage reveal, and it’s worth being direct about that rather than overselling momentum that doesn’t yet exist. No release date or price is confirmed. Some promotional material references a “Fall 2025” PC launch window that is clearly out of step with the current date and appears to be stale or erroneous messaging rather than a real target — worth flagging rather than repeating as fact. No press coverage, community reaction, or reviews exist yet; the only current avenue is the Steam wishlist page. Console versions are mentioned as a future plan without further detail.

Sun Storm Studio is a 10-person independent team based in Warsaw with prior project experience across the studio, building Red Wire on Unity with Photon for networking — technically unremarkable choices that are the correct, proven infrastructure for a voice-dependent real-time co-op puzzle game of this scale.

    Who This Is For

Strong fit for: Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes fans who want the information-asymmetry defusal concept reworked around shared physical space and player movement rather than fixed roles; friend groups looking for a new short-session comedy co-op title; players who specifically enjoy voice-chat-dependent games where miscommunication is the source of fun rather than frustration; anyone drawn to low-stakes, no-real-consequence failure states in party games.

Cautious fit for: players who want a confirmed release date or price before wishlisting; anyone who needs existing reviews or community sentiment to gauge quality; players without reliable voice chat access, for whom the entire mechanic is inaccessible by design.

Less ideal for: solo players (online multiplayer only, no solo mode indicated); players who dislike time-pressure puzzle mechanics; anyone seeking single-player or narrative-driven content.

    The Takeaway

Red Wire is a very early announcement from a small Warsaw studio betting that voice communication itself — not a manual, not a shared screen, but the simple difficulty of describing what you see accurately under pressure to someone who can’t see it — is enough to build an entire co-op puzzle game around. The pitch is legible, and the Keep Talking-adjacent lineage is clear, but with no price, release date, or outside reception yet, this is a wishlist-stage prospect rather than a game ready for evaluation.

The bomb is somewhere in the city. The matching wire is somewhere else. And the only way to find it in time is to describe exactly what you’re looking at to someone who has to trust you got it right.

Steam wishlist open. Release date TBA.
