Ukrainian indie developer Triomatica Games has unveiled a new logic puzzle game set on a theatrical stage called ‘I Want to Play the Villain!’
The game is scheduled to be released on PC, PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, iOS, and Android, and a free demo will be released first on Steam on August 17.
Triomatica Games is a studio that has garnered attention by winning the GDWC 2023 Mobile Award and the PGA 2023 Best Indie International Game Award for its hand-drawn, sentimental puzzle adventure ‘Boxville’ .
The new game ‘I Want to Play the Villain!’ is a unique puzzle game set on a theatrical stage where players create the perfect performance by considering the personalities and relationships of the actors.
A logic puzzle that orchestrates the actors’ desires to complete a perfect performance
‘I Want to Play the Villain!’ is a theatrical logic puzzle game where you complete a performance by rearranging the cast and changing the story.
Every actor on stage possesses distinct personalities, including their own dreams, ambitions, fears, and preferred roles. The player must create a stage that satisfies all the actors by adjusting the casting, changing costumes, or modifying the story progression itself.
The game proceeds in a structure where a single small choice significantly alters the flow of the entire performance, such as assigning a desired lead role to someone, placing well-matched actors in the same scene, or switching roles to avoid a feared situation.
Each chapter will feature new backgrounds, characters, and puzzle rules, promising plenty of fun in solving problems in a unique way every time.
A warm stage where the sensibility of hand-drawn animation meets theater.
In their previous work, ‘Boxville’, Triomatica Games hand-drew all the backgrounds and characters, adding distinctive music to every scene to deliver the fun of puzzles that felt like watching an animated film.
‘I Want to Play the Villain!’ also inherits the studio’s signature hand-drawn style. With the addition of the theater theme to warm colors and charming direction, it is expected to create a spectacular yet human drama.
Ukrainian indie studio that proved its skills with ‘Boxville’

The sequel, ‘Boxville 2’, is also being evaluated as continuing the quality of the series, having been selected as a finalist for GDWC 2025 following in the footsteps of the previous work.
Securing buzz immediately after reveal, targeting official launch in Q1 2027
