- A unique project that blurs the boundaries between Twitch chat and horror games
- A unique live streaming horror show that continues a live broadcast from a haunted house
- With a 100% positive demo rating, the game is attracting significant attention from international horror media and communities.
You start a live broadcast from an abandoned house. You must read the viewers’ chat, investigate suspicious phenomena, and figure out what an unknown entity wants.
Polish publisher RedDeer.Games and Skystone Games, co-founded by Diablo creators David Brevik and Bill Wang, have teamed up to unveil the first-person psychological horror game ‘Dark Stream’ .
The game is currently under development with a target release date of 2026 on Steam, and a free demo was released alongside the announcement. Players take on the role of a once-popular but fallen content creator who conducts a live stream in a house where ghost stories have persisted for decades, seeking one last chance for a twist.
The broadcast takes place in real time, and reactions in the chat window influence the situation within the game. The supernatural phenomena occurring inside the house also constantly change their appearance depending on the actions of the player and viewers.
Flashing flashlight and laptop… Immersive first-person horror
Dark Stream unfolds around a laptop screen, a flashlight, and a real-time chat window. Players must explore every corner of the abandoned house, tracking down hidden secrets and traces of a violent past.
The supernatural phenomena in the game are not mere decoration. Objects move on their own, strange sounds emanate from places where they shouldn’t be, and mysterious whispers fill the space. An atmosphere that feels as though someone has been waiting for the player for a long time creates constant tension.
Another feature is its composition, which combines psychological horror, mystery, and investigation elements. Rather than relying on sudden horror sequences, the game focuses on gradually pressuring the player and building psychological tension.
Observe and deduce… Investigative horror that uncovers the hidden underbelly
The core of the game is analyzing various abnormal phenomena occurring inside the house, known as ‘anomalies’.
The player must observe the surroundings and gather clues to understand what is currently happening. Making the right judgments stabilizes the situation and allows one to approach the hidden truth, but wrong choices turn the house into an even more dangerous and unpredictable space.
As new rooms are opened through exploration, the clues connect into a single story. The mystery deepens as the truth behind the phenomenon that twists objects, spaces, and the entire house is gradually revealed.
The game is characterized by its adoption of an adaptive anomaly system that responds to player actions rather than a fixed script, providing a different level of tension every time.
The unpredictable variables created by real-time Twitch chat
The biggest feature of Dark Stream is its Twitch chat integration.
During the broadcast, viewers react in real time, cheering for the player, fanning the flames of chaos, or potentially making the situation even more dangerous. The player must face fear not alone, but under the watchful eyes of countless viewers.
Although it is a single-player game, it stands out for combining live streaming culture with the horror genre. The goal of the game is to keep the broadcast going for as long as possible. Players must continue streaming amidst increasingly intense supernatural threats and psychological pressure.
100% Positive Review for Demo… Attention from Overseas Media
The released demo currently has a 100% positive rating on Steam.
The international horror media outlet Bloody Disgusting evaluated it as “a work that presents a unique challenge of enduring supernatural phenomena while conducting a live broadcast in a haunted place.”
COGconnected also introduced the work, stating, “Once the broadcast begins, the number of viewers and chat explode, but you soon realize that this house is not just a mere backdrop. The house reacts, remembers, and returns.” Blue’s News also highlighted the work, noting its unique broadcast concept and psychological horror elements.
Combining real-time chat, supernatural phenomena, and psychological investigation elements, Dark Stream is a work that uniquely fuses horror games with live streaming culture. Attention is focused on what kind of reaction this experimental horror game will elicit after its official release, as it draws not only players but also viewers into the horror experience.
