‘Waycoder’, supported by Jeonnam Global Game Center, expands to North America and Europe

    • Jeonnam Information & Culture Industry Promotion Agency Achieves Global Success… Waycoder Enters North American and European Markets
    • ‘Astonishia Story’ Signs Publishing Contract Through Major Japanese Game Company’s Global Network

The Jeonnam Global Game Center, operated by the Jeonnam Information & Culture Industry Promotion Agency, is achieving tangible results by supporting the overseas expansion of local game companies. Waycoder Co., Ltd., a company based in Jeonnam that participated in the 2025 Tokyo Game Show (TGS) with the agency’s support, announced that it has signed a publishing contract for its console RPG ‘Astonishia Story’ in the North American and European markets.

Connections forged at the Tokyo Game Show bear fruit in a global contract

The Agency participated in Tokyo Game Show 2025, Asia’s largest game exhibition, alongside game companies from the Jeonnam region to support the establishment of business networks and the attraction of overseas publishing and investment. At the event, ‘Astonishia Story’ garnered interest from global publishers and investors, and building on this foundation, contracts for expansion into North America and Europe were successfully concluded, leveraging the publishing networks of major Japanese game companies.

This contract is highly significant as it goes beyond a simple sale of publishing rights to proceed as a full-scale global publishing deal encompassing localization, marketing, and distribution. The industry regards this as proof that game content from the Jeonnam region possesses the competitiveness to meet global standards.

The Jeonnam Global Game Center’s customized support for overseas expansion served as the foundation.

The Agency has continuously implemented customized support programs through the Jeonnam Global Game Center to enhance the self-reliance of local game companies, including assistance with participation in overseas exhibitions, business matching, and local marketing. Waycoder’s recent achievement is drawing attention as a concrete result of these efforts, demonstrating the potential for local game companies to expand into overseas markets.

An official from the Promotion Agency stated, “Waycoder’s achievement is a symbolic example that demonstrates the potential of Jeonnam’s game industry to the global market,” adding, “We will continue to provide multifaceted support to ensure that local companies can achieve tangible results in the global market.”

We will continuously expand support for overseas expansion

Meanwhile, the Agency has been continuously implementing customized support programs through the Jeonnam Global Game Center to enhance the self-reliance of local game companies and lower the barriers to overseas expansion, such as support for participation in overseas exhibitions, business matching, and local marketing.

Building on this achievement, we plan to further solidify the provincial game industry ecosystem in the second half of the year by supporting participation in major global game exhibitions and attracting companies from outside the region.
