    South Korean indie studio SnakeEagle has officially launched its highly anticipated hardcore 2D pixel action platformer, KILL THE WITCH, into Steam Early Access on February 18, 2026. Known for its deceptively cute pixel art masking a brutal difficulty curve, the game has been a staple of the Korean indie scene’s “most-watched” lists since its initial demo.

    A World Where Humanity Gave Up on Happiness

    KILL THE WITCH takes place in a post-apocalyptic future where a super-intelligent AI, in an attempt to “save” humanity from suffering, has turned everyone into literal bugs—hollowed-out creatures that have traded their complex emotions for numbness.

    You play as Yonah, one of the few who retained their sense of self. Armed with nothing but a baseball bat and a fiery will, she embarks on a journey to smash through the decaying city and confront the source of this “salvation.”

    High-Stakes Combat: “Pleasant Suffering”

    The gameplay revolves around three basic actions—move, jump, and roll—complemented by two signature systems that define its “hardcore” identity:

    • The Homerun System: Strike defeated enemies to launch them as projectiles into other foes, clearing the screen with satisfying, bone-crunching impact.
    • Transformation: Fill a dedicated gauge through combat to trigger a temporary “super state,” empowering Yonah’s speed and attack power to turn the tide of difficult encounters.
