Three Headed Monkey Studios has released a free Steam demo of the 2D point-and-click adventure game ‘Ghost Haunting’ .
This demo version is attracting the attention of fans of the genre as it is being released as part of the ‘Steam Point & Click Showcase’ currently underway on Steam.
The development team introduced this new title as a work that inherits the spirit of LucasArts, which presented classic adventure games in the 1990s with *Secret of Monkey Island* and the *Indiana Jones* series . It is characterized by its identity featuring hand-drawn pixel graphics that capture a unique classic sensibility and witty black humor.
A journey to the afterlife secretly taken without Grandfather’s knowledge… The chaotic coming-of-age story of an 8-year-old girl
The protagonist is an 8-year-old girl named Gigi. While on vacation, Gigi discovers the surprising fact that her grumpy grandfather, Giovanni, is a legendary ghost hunter, and she decides to head to the afterlife to bring back her grandmother who has passed away.
It stems from the whimsical yet pure idea that if ghosts can come to the world of the living, then conversely, the living can go to the world of the dead. Baron Butt(er)nut, a talking pumpkin devil, accompanies Gigi on his reckless journey, which has put getting his grandfather’s permission on the back burner for now.
The Steam store page warns that the device’s perilous plan could potentially plunge the world into a massive catastrophe. Amidst an unpredictable adventure, players encounter a heartwarming narrative dealing with growth, death, and the connection between two worlds.
Combining classic fun with modern convenience… Encountering unique characters
The development team explained that their goal for this demo was to give players the “feeling of rediscovering forgotten 90s adventure games.” It captures the unique fun of classic point-and-click gameplay—conversing with eccentric characters, combining quirky items, and solving puzzles—while also adding modern convenience features.

The characters encountered on the adventure are also unique. Outlandish characters such as a half-dead zombie, a death style coach, and a transparent Olympic committee appear and breathe life into the game. While the developers introduced the game as having no sudden jump scares, they humorously added a hint with the clue “probably.”
A trio of filmmakers joins forces… Daidalic Entertainment
Developer Three Headed Monkey Studios is a creative team based in Cologne, Germany, spanning both games and movies. It was founded in 2023 by filmmakers Tali Barde, Marco Grönwoldt, and Marian Grönwoldt.
They aim to fully incorporate the video storytelling and production know-how they have accumulated over more than 10 years into narrative-driven games, genre films, and comedy series. The studio’s unique name also stems from their extraordinary affection for classic adventure games.
Publisher Daedalic Entertainment has released the ‘Deponia’ series, ‘Edna & Harvey’, ‘The Whispered World’, and ‘Ken Follett’s The Pillars of the Earth’.
