“If you become class president, I’ll throw you a birthday party.” A single remark from her mother completely changes the life of 10-year-old Jimin. A once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for Jimin, who has always lived like an invisible person between her model student older sister and cute younger brother.
“Come to my party!”, a black comedy visual novel developed by Korean solo developer SIMSANG YOON and published by LINE Games Corporation, will be released on Steam in the fourth quarter of 2026.
Set in a Korean elementary school in 1999, this work tells the story of Jimin, a 10-year-old girl struggling to throw her first-ever birthday party. With a unique sensibility where laughter, warmth, and bitter reality intersect, 12 different endings unfold depending on the player’s choices.
Pink bags and blackboard scribbles… Restoring a 1999 Korean elementary school in pixels
The game delicately recreates the daily life of a Korean elementary school in the 1990s using pixel graphics.
It vividly captures the atmosphere of that time, from the late autumn sunlight pouring through classroom windows, worn wooden desks, and chalk-filled blackboards, to the commotion of children filling the playground during lunchtime. This backdrop evokes deep nostalgia for the generation that experienced the 1990s, while offering an unfamiliar yet intriguing cultural experience to younger generations and international users.
With the addition of various mini-games, players can experience Jimin’s school life firsthand. Just as the Steam tags “Atmospheric” and “1990s” are attached together, the appeal of this work lies in its focus on the sensibility of the era and the detailed recreation of the setting.
A story that makes you stop laughing… The coexistence of black comedy and sincerity
Come to My Party! is a work that encompasses both lighthearted humor and profound themes. The game explores the innocence and loneliness of childhood, the indifference of adults, and complex, indescribable emotions through the eyes of a ten-year-old child. Stories frequently appear that bring joyful laughter while leaving a chill in the heart at unexpected moments.
The world surrounding Jimin is also not simple. His friends live with their own unique personalities, backstories, and worries that are not easily revealed. The direction of relationships changes significantly depending on which friend he approaches, whom he trusts, and what choices he makes.
Themes such as class president elections, the subtle hierarchy among classmates, family relationships, and the meaning of friendship are depicted calmly yet at times sharply through the eyes of a child.
From the class president election to the birthday party… Jimin’s story created by 12 endings
The core of the game is forming relationships with friends. Jimin’s classmates are unique characters with diverse personalities and backgrounds, and who you become close with and how you handle secrets change the flow of the story.
Will Jimin be able to make good friends? Will he be able to become class president? And will he be able to throw the birthday party he has always dreamed of?
Every choice made by the player leads to one of 12 endings. Steam tags such as ‘dark comedy’, ‘choices matter’, ‘branching’, ‘dialogue-driven’, and ‘text-based’ are registered, foreshadowing high narrative density and replayability.
A solo developer’s work selected by LINE Games… A new endeavor in the Korean indie scene
Developer SIMSANG YOON is a solo creator who independently planned and developed this work. LINE Games Corporation is the publisher.
Amid the recent trend of major domestic platforms and publishers expanding their interest in supporting indie games, it is noteworthy that a work with the extremely local subject matter of a Korean elementary school in the 1990s is preparing for a global release.
In particular, Com to My Party! plans to expand its reach to global users through various channels, including Steam and STOVE, as well as TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, and Discord. The game supports Korean, English, Japanese, and Chinese (Simplified and Traditional), and is targeting users worldwide beyond the Asian market.
Come to My Party! is not merely a work that recreates the nostalgia of Korean elementary schools in the 1990s. Through familiar memories such as class president elections, friendships, family expectations, and feelings of alienation, it simultaneously uncovers the joys and cruelties of childhood. Attention is focused on how this game, which promises to offer an experience where you laugh one moment and feel a sudden lump in your throat the next, will convey the ‘Korean childhood’ to global users.
You can experience the game in advance through the demo version released on Steam.
