Folded with Love: Emotional Paper Platformer ‘Origament’ Launches Today on Steam

        By Editorial Team2026년 04월 07일3 Mins Read
        • The Protagonist: A sentient paper letter on a quest to find its long-lost recipient.
        • The Mechanic: A deep transformation system—fold yourself into a boat, plane, ball, or shuriken to solve puzzles.
        • The Vibe: Pure relaxation. Critics are calling it “Digital Chamomile Tea.”
        • The Origin: A passion project 10 years in the making from Sweden’s Space Sauce Studio.

The most heart-tugging mail delivery service in gaming has officially opened its doors. Assemble Entertainment and Space Sauce Studio have announced the global release of Origament: A Paper Adventure, now available on Steam as of April 7, 2026. This combat-free, atmospheric platformer invites players to experience a world literally crafted from paper, where every fold tells a story.

A Letter with a Spark of Will

The adventure begins within the dusty shelves of the Archive of Memory. Amidst thousands of forgotten envelopes, one special letter awakens with an inexplicable, flickering spark of consciousness. Though its author is long forgotten, the letter possesses an unbreakable desire to reach its destination.

Propelled by a sudden rift in time, the letter escapes the archive to begin a journey across time and space. From the sun-drenched rooftops of Venice to the swirling tornadoes of the Great West, your goal is simple but profound: find the person who has been waiting for you.

Transformation as the Key to Exploration

In Origament, your body is your greatest tool. The game centers on a fluid transformation system that changes how you interact with the environment:

        • The Paper Boat: Drift peacefully down streams and navigate water-based obstacles.
        • The Paper Plane: Soar over gaps and explore the verticality of urban diorama levels.
        • The Paper Ball: Squeeze through tight corridors and roll into hidden secrets.
        • The Shuriken: Slice through the air with precision to reach distant platforms or trigger switches.

There is no combat in Origament. The challenge lies in observing your surroundings and choosing the right shape to overcome environmental puzzles, making for a meditative and rewarding experience.

“We wanted to create a game that invites curiosity rather than stress,” says the development team. “In Origament, finding a new path feels like uncovering a secret message meant just for you.”

        A Decade in the Making

Space Sauce Studio began as a one-man dream in 2018, founded by a 3D artist with years of experience working on AAA titles. While the team honed their skills on high-budget pipelines, the seed of Origament—which started as a simple idea about a paper boat—remained in their hearts for over ten years.

The final result is a visual masterpiece that blends low-poly aesthetics with tactile paper textures. Each level feels like a handcrafted diorama, drawing inspiration from cozy hits like A Short Hike and Stray. Whether you are navigating a serene Japanese forest or a dense wild jungle, the game maintains a “Digital Chamomile Tea” atmosphere that is perfect for winding down.
