Don’t Blink: Ukrainian Indie Horror ‘The Floor Above’ Sets Its Sights on an April 2026 Release

    By Editorial Team2026년 02월 11일Updated:2026년 02월 22일3 Mins Read
    • Helpless Immersion: You are tied to a chair. Your only tools for survival are your eyes and a blink of a lid.
    • The “Spot the Difference” Evolution: Combines anomaly-detection gameplay with a deep, branching psychological narrative.
    • Viral Acclaim: The Steam demo holds a 98% positive rating, with over 36,000 downloads to date.
    • A Studio’s First: The debut independent project from Kiev-based Swytapp Games after a decade of outsourcing for others.

If the thought of being immobilized while things go bump in the night sounds terrifying, Swytapp Games has exactly what you’re looking for. The Ukrainian studio has officially announced that ‘The Floor Above’ will launch in April 2026, bringing a new level of vulnerability to the popular “observation horror” genre.

    The Mechanics of Paralysis

In The Floor Above, movement is a luxury you don’t have. You play as Mike, a man tied to a chair in a room that repeats as you ascend floor by floor. Your interaction is limited to turning your head and blinking.

    • The Observation Loop: As the elevator takes you up, you must scrutinize the room for anomalies. See something wrong? Hit the red button. Everything looks normal? Hit the green button.
    • Reality vs. Hallucination: With over 100 unique anomalies ranging from subtle object shifts to reality-shattering events, the game forces you to use the “blink” mechanic to distinguish what is real from what is a trick of the mind.
    • The Narrative Hook: Unlike typical observation games that focus purely on the “glitch,” The Floor Above is story-rich. A mysterious narrator guides—and sometimes taunts—you as you unravel the truth behind Mike’s predicament.

    Five Endings to Uncover

The game is built for high replayability, featuring four main endings and a hidden “True Ending” that can only be unlocked after surviving the final loop. Scattered throughout the floors are secrets, Easter eggs, and a suspicious cat named Morty who serves as a recurring, often terrifying, presence.

    A Milestone for Swytapp Games

While Swytapp Games has a decade of experience in “full-cycle” development—handling everything from 3D art to blockchain tech for external clients—The Floor Above marks their first transition into independent IP.

“After years of contract work, this project represents our creative vision,” says COO Alla Sobko. “We wanted to take the tension of ‘spot the difference’ games and infuse it with emotional stakes and a narrative that rewards the player for paying attention.”

The game has already garnered awards at Games Gathering Indie Blast and is currently one of the most-wishlisted indie horror titles of the spring season.

The game is scheduled to be released on Steam in April 2026 and will support 12 languages, including English. A free demo is currently available on Steam, and while some sound effects and image assets were aided by AI tools, all original content, including text, story, animations, and core graphics, was created by the development team.
