    BIC 2024, 25,000 visitors, 34.6% increase from the previous year

    Busan Metropolitan City, Busan IT Industry Promotion Agency, and Busan Indie Connect Festival Organizing Committee (from now on BIC Organizing Committee) announced that the offline event of ‘Busan Indie Connect Festival 2024 (from now on BIC Festival 2024)’ has concluded successfully.

    BIC Festival, which renews its scale every year, successfully concluded its 10th year at BEXCO, Busan’s representative exhibition and convention center, with the most significant number of visitors ever. This year, it recorded 24,999 offline visitors, an increase of approximately 34.6% over last year, once again solidifying its position as Korea’s best indie game festival.

    The exhibition hall showcased a record-breaking 245 works from 28 countries. Indie games from various categories, including the competitive General/Rookie category and the non-competitive Connect Pick category, as well as Parade Indie, Public Indie, Play Zone, and Legend Indie, were showcased, leading to high satisfaction from true fans of indie games.

    In addition to the exhibition, various events were held, such as ‘Live Indie’, which played the BIC Festival 2024 exhibition works as a real-time streaming service, ‘Parade Indie’, which recreated characters from indie games, and ‘Latte Indie’, a quiz show that recorded the journey of the 10 BIC Festivals, providing visitors with things to see and enjoy at the same time.

    In addition, the ‘BIC 10 Lounge’ was created to look back on the journey of the past ten years and express deep gratitude to the many people who have been with us. The history of BIC’s holdings and the passion and effort of the developers who participated in each session impressed many visitors.

    The winners of the BIC Festival 2024 Awards competition category are ▲Gino’s , a narrative-driven puzzle adventure game about finding hope in a collapsed city, and ▲Lizard Smoothie’s , a game that explores dreams and worlds through a combination of MOBA and action roguelike. The games won the Grand Prix and Rising Star awards at BIC Festival 2024.

    In addition, 15 indie game developers who stood out in various fields such as action, social impact, audio, and casual were honored with awards.

    The ‘BIC 2024 Online Festival’ is for gamers who still have regrets after the offline event. It will be held until August 30th. Visitors who want to enjoy each piece more leisurely can purchase online tickets through the BIC official website and play each exhibited piece.

    BIC Festival Organizing Committee Chairman Seo Tae-geon said, “I would like to thank all the indie game lovers who have been with us on our journey up to the 10th festival,” and added, “We have left the past ten festivals behind and are preparing for the upcoming 10th festival, and we will continue to showcase BIC’s vast ‘Universe Indie.’”
