At the 2023 GLOBAL GAME JAM (2023 Global Game Jam) held at Jeonju University for two nights and three days from July 28, Gimpo University (President Park Jin-young) Game Contents Department student Lim Soo-yeon won the Korea Game Media Association President Award.
This time In the 2023 Global Game Jam, 100 students and indie game developers from 5 countries (Korea, USA, China, Japan, and the Netherlands) teamed up with students from different nationalities and schools, and the game development theme was ‘Peace.’ When it was announced, they filled in each other’s shortcomings based on their accumulated game production skills and spent a passionate time digesting the schedule for three days without night sleep.
Gimpo University student Lim Soo-yeon, who formed the SPEED team with five members, including Tokyo University, Jeonju University, Dongyang University, and an indie game developer, is a farm tycoon game that realizes a natural state of peace by confronting various factors that hinder peace and a flock of sheep, a symbol of peace. (Project name: Give Me Sandwich!), and was honored to win the main prize.
Professor Kwon Yong-man (Department of Game Contents Department, Gimpo University), who guided the students’ game development, said, “The Game Contents Department of Gimpo University, which has won various awards in international game jams, resumed four years after COVID-19.
