Unity, which provides a platform for creating and operating real-time 3D content, has released a guide called ‘Unity for Technical Artists: Key Toolsets and Workflows.’

‘Unity for Technical Artists: Key Toolsets and Workflows’ is a new type of free guide from Unity for Technical Artists, featuring Unity’s most experienced Unity Technical Artists and ‘The Heretic’ and It was created based on the opinions of the Unity Demo Team who produced the ‘Enemies’ demo.

In addition, you can check the authoring tools and APIs available in Unity 2021 LTS (Long Term Support) and later versions and introduce in detail the expertise required for technical artists, such as toolsets, pipelines, and workflows. It is expected to help build an efficient workflow for content creation.

This guide introduces Unity tools and technology guides that help creative work, starting with guides related to assets such as prefabs and production pipelines. First, the asset chapter includes topics such as non-destructive asset pipeline, asset database, and work related to DCC (Digital Content Creation) tools.

Then, in the Render Pipeline chapter, the optimized work platform and features of the Universal Render Pipeline (URP) and the High Definition Render Pipeline (HDRP) are explained.

Other features include creating immersive lighting effects using GI (Global Illumination), Unity’s Visual Scripting system to create game logic for Unity projects without writing code, and Unity’s comprehensive suite of 2D tools. It provides useful resources to enhance technical capabilities, such as creating 2D games using the game.

You can also check out Digital Human and Unity’s professional art creation tools in the appendix. In particular, ‘Unity’s Digital Human’ introduces the Unity demo team’s process of creating digital humans in detail through ‘THE HERETIIC’ and ‘Enemies,’ from data collection and processing to eyes and hair. You can look closer at the solutions and techniques used to recreate human details, such as hair, skin, and more.
