○ Gyeonggi Province Support Beneficiary ‘Codename Bom’ Attracts Investment and Signs Global Distribution Agreement
○ Selected as a game company for the Ministry of SMEs and Startups’ private investment-led technology start-up support (TIPS) program.
○ Smilegate signed a global publishing contract and successfully attracted approximately 750 million won in investment.
Codename Bom, an indie game startup discovered and nurtured by Gyeonggi Province, is entering the global market by signing a global publishing contract worth 750 million won with Smilegate, a leading domestic game distributor, for its first work, ‘Archetype Blue.’
This is a prime example of a startup that grew through Gyeonggi Province’s game support program entering the global market, demonstrating the success of the province’s game industry development policy. Codename Bomb was selected for the Ministry of SMEs and Startups’ TIPS (Tech Incubator Program for Startups), a rare program for game startups led by private investment, marking a significant achievement in terms of private investment and collaboration.
At the ‘2025 PlayX4’ held in May, more than 5,000 people visited the company’s single booth, and over 3,300 wish list registrations were recorded on Steam, a global game distribution platform, proving both the artistry and marketability of the product.
CodenameBom first gained attention in 2022, its first year of operation, when it won third place at the Gyeonggi-do Game Audition with “Kingstone (now Archetype Blue)”. Since 2023, CodenameBom has secured a stable operational foundation through support from the Gyeonggi Global Game Center. Furthermore, it has continued to grow through participation in various Gyeonggi-do game company support programs, including a booth at PlayXpo.
As a result, Codename Bomb has been recognized for its creative capabilities by winning numerous awards at major domestic game awards, including ▲2023 Indie Game of the Year Award (Korea Mobile Game Association) ▲G-Star 2023 Indie Awards Player’s Voice Award ▲2023 BIC (Busan Indie Connect Festival) ‘One Pick Indie Award’.
Bae Young-sang, head of the Digital Innovation Division of Gyeonggi Province, said, “CodenameBom is a representative example of how Gyeonggi Province’s game industry support policy has led to actual results,” and added, “Gyeonggi Province will continue to do its best to ensure that game startups can receive customized support at each stage, from founding to global expansion.”
Gyeonggi Province is implementing various support measures to foster the game industry, including hosting events such as Play Expo, Gyeonggi Game Audition, Gyeonggi Game Connect, Gyeonggi Game Production Support through Open Competition, Gyeonggi Game Academy, Future Technology Game Activation Forum, and supporting overseas exhibitions.
